Billy Tibbetts getting another shot in the NHL, via an upcoming tv show.
The Bruins inviting guys to camp/tv show and two of the guys they chose are former pros, with Tibbetts have plenty of red flags. Sounds like a real winner of a program.

And the New York Islanders guarantee themselves a future of mediocrity. They just signed Ric DiPietro to a 15-year, $67.5 million contract.

They say it's the second longest in history, with Magic Johnson's 25 year deal being the longest. For some reason though I seem to remember Peter Pocklington originally signing Wayne Gretzky to a 20-year 'personal services' contract that was torn up a few years later as the Great One realized he was getting bent over hard on the deal. lube not included.

Regardless, I have no idea what the Islanders are thinking (did they learn nothgin from the Alexi Yashin saga?), DiPietro either for that matter on the very remote chance that he turns into the second coming of Brodeur. I thought the league couldn't even get insurance on contracts that were longer than five ore six years long anyways. This organization just assured itself of another 15 years without a cup.

Great signing by the Preds, will have one of the league's best wrapped up through the rest of his prime years at a reasonable cost. I just hope he's through all of his health problems, got a little scarry last year.

The DiPietro signing further cements the Islander's reputation as the goofiest franchise in all of pro sports.

DiPietro isn't even that good for God's sake.

So if I'm one-tenth the goalie that DiPietro is, I should be worth $6.7 million over 1.5 years. ;D

Only if you're 1/10th the mathematician that he is.

Sorry, JJ, I saw that I had the chance to register post #3000 on this thread and had to jump on it as soon as I could.

EDIT - The weirdest thing just happened. Some woman dressed as Cassie Campbell came into my office with a a cake that said "Congratulations Mr. 3000" and gave me a lap dance. Can't wait to see what happens if I'm Mr. 4000.

For 4,000, you get Don Cherry in a kilt, jumping out of the cake.

    Few more signings
The Oil lock up Joffrey Lupol for three years for $6.935 mil. Good to see K-Lowe didn't crack and give him the $7-mil he wanted.

Also Flyers signed Canucks restricted free agent Ryan Kesler to an offer sheet worth $1.9 mil for one year. Dave Nonis now has seven days to match or I think he gets a second rounder as compensation.

The Flames also appear set to sign Allison to a one year deal for a little under $1-mil
