While CHarles Wang is proving that he is certifiable, apparently everyones favourite – and by that I mean the GM everyone hates – Bobby Clarke is apparently being raked over the coals for tendering his offer sheet to Kessler.

It makes me sick that this is the second time in a week that I have offered some defence for the guy, but he does have a point. He did nothing that was against the rules. Hell, the way the CBA is set up now it almost encourages the signing of RFAs to offersheets, especially compared to the last CBA where you paid through the nose for signing a player to an offer sheet. Is what he offered Kessler an overpayment, absolutely, but that's the point of making an offer on a Restricted Free Agent, you have to make it such where the original team will not be willing to sign the player at those terms.

AP reports that Mike Dunham is coming into Islanders camp for a tryout. Story says the Isles are looking for a veteran backup goalie .... WHY? Don't think DiPietro can be Mr. 82 games goalie until 2022? I like Dunham, but still ...

The Isles also signed Viktor Kozlov to a one-year deal.

Don't blame the Isles for bringing in someone proven to be a backup. Then again, the organization doing ANYTHING smart right now is a little out of the ordinary.

h-beat, c'mon. I mean, c'mon. Granted, it's not a lot of money on a per-year basis, but how in the hell does locking down a player for 15 years make any sense? Great, he's not going anywhere. So if he starts to suck, they can't move him. And, honestly, isn't there at LEAST a 25 percent chance that Ricky goes cuckoo for the trapezoid, and starts getting stuck behind his net while getting a red lamp suntan? Besides, guy's got a five hole so big, the Isles might as well make THAT their new arena.

The Sabres are practicing in the new uniforms..well the gloves and pants anyway. Disgusting, absolutley disgusting. Honest-to-freaking-god, what was Quinn smoking when they went with these designs? Are they this fucking stupid?
A last minute, 'let's bring back the old blue uniforms to shut up the fans" move by Quinn is not going to save his ass for this shit-ass idea.

Looks like a good read, but with this passage:

There are less controversial but still interesting details, such as some of Brodeur's rituals. He uses a brand new stick for every single game, drinks three-quarters of a can of Sprite after pre-game warmups, then two more Sprites at the intermissions.

    Why Sprite?

"Gatorade hurts my stomach and water just doesn't give me enough of a lift," he says in the book.

I couldn't help but think he is pining for a Coke sponsorship deal.

Well, now that he's blown his shot with Gatorade, maybe Coke will have him.

Co-authored transcribed entirely from tapes by Toronto Star columnist Damien Cox. Cox is one of my favorite guys because he, unlike a lot of the other Centre of the Universe hockey writers doesn't have his head up MLSE's ass.

That said, he's capable of writing more than yet another dreary as "as told to" fanboy tome.

Now, I haven't read it and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

And, ladies and gentleman, as the NHL training camps get underway, I am ready to celebrate the end of forty years of Leafs looserfanboy frustration and introduce your Toronto Maple Leafs. :)
