I'd like to do the same thing for the reigning Stanley Cup champions, but am trying to figure out how many more shoulders are going to pop.

Already, there's Cory Stillman and Frank Kaberle, both of whom had serious shoulder surgeries. Neither will start the season. :'( Uh, Cam Ward ... how many more stands do you have in you, kiddo?

Speaking of training camps, anyone see the Robbie Schremp exhibition during the Oilers rookie game shootout following their annual game against the U of A Golden Bears? unfucking believable. TSN did a big thing on it yesterday because the moves were that incredible.

    Saw it.

Schremp is a hot dog asshole.

At least he's right about one thing. If he ever tried that move in a game, he'd be buried so deep in the AHL, you'd never see him till he was 40

I know you don't like the guy, but he was doing it to put a show on for the crowd. It was an exhibition shoot out against a University team following the game, which the Oilers rookies won 6-2. There was nothing malicious about it. He's never going to do the puck on a string thing in a game, but I could see the behind the back snap shot being used in a shoot out, nothing worse than what Malik did (Who really had no right pulling that move considering up to that point he had scored exactly zero goals), or any of the other goals that take dekes up a notch or two. He said he already pulled it out once during a game and some goon tried to beat him up for it.
The guy is talented, let him show his ability. It would be like telling Vince Carter not to do any fancy dunks during a game. Sports afterall are supposed to be entertaining. I'd much rather see that than any choreographed team dance in the endzone after a touchdown.

While I like that the NHL is easing up on stick curves, why don't they just allow any type of curve a player wants? For the sake of more offense at least?

    So goalies don't get killed.

Goals were up substantially last year from the pre-lockout era.

I don't think "more offense" is much of an issue under the rules crackdown.

Didn't they implement those same diving rules last year?

League is thinking about making the nets eight inches wider and six inches higher, in another effort to increase scoring.

Dammit. Leave the farking nets alone. Maybe play with the new rules more than one stinking year before changing everything again.

And anyone who brings the idea of the ridiculously bowed nets back should be immediately decapitated.

I only saw a snippet the night of the game but a university kid had a better move than Schremp did (a behind the back shot, and he scored on it).

    Ask Sean Avery about it.
