John Pohl also dates the extremely hot Krissy Wendell, captain of the U.S. Olympic hockey team. That alone makes him worth an NHL roster spot.

Hell, for that alone he deserves to be the Leafs captain.

Paul maurice is a quality coach. I was surprised it took him as long as it did to land back on his feet in the NHL after getting axed by Carolina. He is the biggest reason why the Leafs may have a chance at eventually turning their ship around – great at working with young players and knows the game inside and out. If I was looking to rebuild I would target hmi as my first choice for a head coach.

Veteran NHL defenceman Kim Johnsson was picked 286th and last in 1994 but never played a game in the minor leagues.

And how strange is it that the Leafs' new rookie is from a town called Red Wing? :-\

AP reporting that the Devils are now under the cap space needed to sign Brian Gionta, Paul Martin and David Hale. Devils were successful in getting Alexander Mogilny placed on the long-term injury exception list, thus saving the team $3.5 million.

New Jersey now has $7.1 million in cap space according to AP.

    Mr Claws,

Lou Lamoriello overspends on a player nobody wanted, then creates room by throwing in a first rounder and taking on two dead men. I'd love to hear the conversation with the folks who insured Mogilny's contract--the premium on Mogilny's contract given his recent medical history is probably $4-million a season.

Malakhov, tho', it's a Bizarro Brinks Job--deposit a few million and then hold the bank up for 100 grand instead of making a withdrawal ...

    YHS, etc

AP now reporting Gionta, Hale, Martin and others are now signed to contracts.

Grant Marshall cleared waivers and was assigned to the minors. Adrian Foster was also sent down.

Has Colorado named Jose Theodore their #1 goalie?
