It also depends how stressful those 40 shots are. If a defense can force a team to shoot from the perimeter or the wings, it's much, much easier to make the saves and less stressful.

Not saying that's the case with Pittsburgh. Just saying 40 shots could look worse than it was.

One other thing about the Oil, Roloson looked really good. So much for any carry-over from the playoff knee injury. If he plays that well all season, they won't miss Pronger.

Who is this Pronger you speak of?

3-0 Devils at the end of the first in Raleigh.

    Canes look disjointed.

Pronger? Tallish fellow, blonde, apparently likes sunshine.

4-0 now. 'Canes are having trouble completing passes, along with not skating .

I was at the game, and other than a little charge in the second period where Philly had a two-man advantage, Fleury was not challenged a great deal.

FWIW, watched Pens-Flyers through the magic of DVR and NHL Center Ice. Two things stood out:

    1) Fleury played very well. Much more in control than usual. Did a great job on containing rebounds.
    2) If he sees the type of shots he saw much longer, he'll break. Too many quality chances -- sooner or later, they'll start going in.

Michael Nylander slams a puck past Nittymaki 42 seconds into the game. 1-0 Rangers.

In the 13th round of the shootout, a Marcel Hossa wrist shot eludes Nittymaki. Rangers win, 5-4.

I know it's rather early--three games into the season--but the defending Stanley Cup Champions are in deep trouble defensively. Alexander Semin had a hat trick and Alexander Ovechkin scored two goals in the Caps' 5-2 win tonight.
