So I probably shouldn't have invited Carrie Brady along either, is that what you're saying? :-\

No, she is just not my type, and I don't like to share. ::)

Guess I'll have to amuse myself with Mr. Bean tonight instead. :D

    Well, that's disturbing.

I do think Mr. Bean could draw a lot of penalties in the new NHL.

I appreciate the invite HB we'll see where I'm at in the spring and if my pocket book will allow me to afford it or not. Hell every road trip story needs an antagonist ;)

the marchant story is actually quite interesting. he was supposed to be part of the fedorov deal, but would not waive his no-trade because mclean refused to tell him where he was going. cant blame him.

mclean has got to be in trouble. fedorov has two more years at $6.08 million after this one. he'll be 39 when the contract finishes. mclean also gave marchant $24 million over six years -- and lockout protection -- which means marchant got paid last year. (i think he was the only non-injured guy.) it's unlikely anyone will trade for him, so mclean will have to send marchant down to the minors and call him up, allowing someone else to claim him. but columbus will have to pay 50 per cent of his salary for the remaining three years on his contract (approximately $1.25 million per).

    bruuuuuuuuutal.

I think Mclean will be fine. Two mistakes should not get him fired. yes I know it was a $24-million mistake, but if everytime a GM over spent on a plyer should he be fired? The only thing I can't understand is why he wouldn't tell Marchant where he was going? The worst that could happen is that he would turn it down, and at that point he wouldn't look like such an idiot, whereas not telling him he's guaranteed to turn it down, and Mclean looks like he's in his forst year on the job.
Still I respect the guy, just don't understand his thinking there.

beef, my friend, shall we wager?

i'll bet mclean is no longer president/gm in columbus by the start of next season. you name the price.

Hey anybody know if there's any truth to the trade rumours down in FLA about Luongo's agent demanding a trade? The two teams I've heard to be in the hunt for the disgruntled 'tender are Colorado and my Edmonton Oilers (yes I am a loser fan boy). any thoughts?

I'll take that bet, but instead of money, I think the wager should be something visible on here, something telling of the great virtues of the winning party.

deal. if i lose, i will write a lengthy tribute to you.

as for luongo, he rejected both a four year, $20 million package and a five-year, $21 million offer from florida before this year. according to his agent, he wanted five and 28. luongo instead went to arbitration, where he got one year, $3.2 million -- and he was pissed.

those trade rumors apparently came from michel bergeron on a french sports tv show called 110 per cent. they dont get that one in alberta, beefaroni, but if theres anything worse than four know-it-alls spouting inane bullshit in english it's four know-it-alls spouting inane bullshit in french. i have no doubt that others are calling the panthers about luongo. but he cannot become a free agent until after the 2006-07 season and i believe the panthers will take another run at a long-term deal for him.

florida has bigger problems. giving gary roberts and joe nieuwendyk two-year deals was moronic, and jacques martin's system may be ineffective in the new nhl.
