    Tonight's games:

Nov 29, 2005 Flyers vs. Islanders
Nov 29, 2005 Hurricanes vs. Thrashers
Nov 29, 2005 Canadiens vs. Senators
Nov 29, 2005 Bruins vs. Devils
Nov 29, 2005 Sabres vs. Penguins
Nov 29, 2005 Flames vs. Predators
Nov 29, 2005 Avalanche vs. Oilers

That's a nice set of games, with Hurricanes and Thrashers being the most intriguing game of the night.

flames vs. predators is an interesting game as well, good goaltending matchup there

Call me a homer, but if you're going to watch any game, Colorado @ Edmonton would likely be the best. Wide open, lots of goals – this was always a great game before the rule changes, now it's even better. Plus watchout for Oilers 26-year-old rookie goalie Mike Morrison. He's 4-0-0 with a microscopic GAA and was just named defensive player of the week. Conklin who?

Didn't these teams play a wild game a couple weeks ago?

For those who haven't seen the 15 round Capitals-Rangers shootout, the video link is on the main page of nhl.com.

What an incredible goal by Marek Malik. I'm not sure which reaction was better, though, Malik acting like he did that sort of thing all the time even though he hadn't scored a goal prior to that, or the announcer screaming, "are you kidding me?"

    You're welcome.

A co-worker let me borrow [IMG]. It was really well done.

Malik said he has been practicing that move for a long time, waiting to get an opportunity to use it in a game.

The announcer was MSG's Mike Crispinio and the color commentator was MSG's John Davidson; Davidson might be THE best color commentator in all of sports.

Agree. Well, I don't think anyone can touch him in hockey. I

Every weekday morning at around 7:20, the FAN590 has a regular 5 minute piece called "The Hockey Insider" and there's a different guest each day--but they're regulars.

Monday's Scott Morrison of Sportsnet, Tuesday's is Scott "The Rainman" Bowman; and then there's Pierre Maguire (the Tim McCarver of hockey), somebody who I've forgotten and J.D. (who's also a regular contributor to Hockey Night in Canada).

Davidson is astute, thoughtful and well spoken but hasn't lost his love for the game. I could listen to him talk shop all day.

As an aside, after hearing Scotty Bowman, though, I understand why Mr. Miler penned the "Rainman" nickname on him.

Jesus, the guy can remember a play that happened 30 years ago.

HB, you're a hockey guy. You can listen to the Fan online at www.fan590.com--that is, if you're up by 7:30. :)

That's also the station that our friend Elliotte appears regularly on during the afternoon drive show.

Red Wings' Fischer again treated at hospital

By TOM KRISHER, Associated Press Writer
    November 30, 2005

DETROIT (AP) -- Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer had another abnormal heartbeat this week and returned to the hospital for treatment.

He was released Wednesday and is to undergo further testing at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor, the team said.

While resting at home Monday, Fischer experienced a "brief, abnormal cardiac rhythm," and went back to Detroit Medical Center for tests. General manager Ken Holland said doctors have told Fischer he should have no physical activity for a minimum of four to six weeks.

Fischer last week collapsed in convulsions on the bench during a game against Nashville. Team physician Tony Colucci wasn't able to detect a pulse after Fischer collapsed, and an auto defibrillator was used on the 25-year-old Czech.

After performing CPR, Colucci said he detected a good pulse, and Fischer was taken from the arena by ambulance to Detroit Receiving Hospital. Colucci said Fischer's heart might have stopped, but he didn't know for how long.

Colucci said last week the defibrillator at the game indicated Fischer's heart may have been experiencing ventricular tachycardia, a kind of racing heartbeat, or ventricular fibrillation, a heart fluttering. Both can cause death, and ventricular fibrillation is a common cause of sudden cardiac arrest.

Fischer was diagnosed with a heart abnormality in 2002, causing him to miss two days of practice. Colucci said tests were being done to determine whether the convulsions were related to the abnormality. When the 2002 result came back, Fischer was given a stress test that he passed, and he said his heart essentially is a little thicker than normal.
