Pretty sure that's a joke. MLSE just might find in Clublink a corporation more money-hungry than they are.

That was a joke. But if they did buy it, I suspect it would happen.

That Philadelphia-Calgary game must have been a dandy to watch. Ended 1-0 in a shootout. It sucks having a great game like that end that way.

Of course Bettman probably hated it because there wasn't 18 goals scored. ::)

Watching a 1-0 hockey game is like watching a 1-0 baseball game.

    The tension is unbelievable.

I remember back in the late 80's an end of season series between the Jays and Tigers. If I'm not mistaken Jimmy Key pitched a one hitter and lost. (Correct me if I'm wrong, HG)

final day, 1987 -- tigers beat blue jays 1-0 to win the al east on a solo hr by larry herndon. key tossed a three-hitter.

it was the last of seven consecutive losses to end the season for toronto, as the two men who sandwiched al mvp george bell in the lineup -- tony fernandez & ernie whitt -- were out with injuries. sparky anderson rolled the ball to bell all weekend, and bell swung away.

And the solo home run hit off the top of the fence and bounced in. I believe that was the game that clinched the division for the Tigers.

I was at that game, sitting about halfway down the third base line, but up in the stands a bit (where you couldn't see some fly balls). I saw the ball fly off Herndon's bat, but didn't see it again until it hit the top of the fence in Tiger Stadium's left field.

The reason I fell for it is because I could absolutely see it happening. I mean, with Torstar and the Ontario Teachers Pension Fund (part owners of MLSE) just buying 20% of Bell Globemedia a few days ago (meaning the Star now owns a portion of the Globe and Mail), anything is possible.

Pretty funny stuff. Fox sure had a lot to say when he thought Murray couldn't hear him, but from the looks of things he didn't say a word while Murray made him his bitch afterward.

By the way, where was tough guy Avery when Chara was pounding the living daylights out of the Kings? ::)

Pretty sure he had already been heaved after getting tuned by Brian McGrattan.
As an aside, Avery played junior in the Sound and a bigger dickhead has rarely been seen in that team's dressing room. After they traded him to Kingston, he was so unpopular that the rookies allegedly gave him the hotbox treatment on the bus.
