Thanks, I remember that game and that dreadful end to the season.

I loved watching Jimmy Key pitch.

I did not see after hours on Saturday night (without satelite right now) and I fully agree that contract is handicapping him in the public right now. The thing is though, Edmonton has a number of guys who can play that aggressive defensive centreman role (Reasoner and Stoll come to mind immediately) and they haven't lost a step - they are in fact on the way into their prime and make a lot less than $4-mil a year. Peca when brought in was called a number one centreman, that his stats as a grinding defensive centreman (basically avg. 60 pts a season when healthy) suggested that if he was put in an offensive role, for the first time in his career, that he could excel. I will admit that I was one of the ones going on and on about how great a move it was initially, and beating the drum that he could be a Number one centre, but up until late he hasn't even shown that fire he is famous for. The Oilers would have been better off keeping York - who I love (great defenisvely, has some offensive up side, etremely versital, hasn't lost a step ...).
We'll see if he can turn it around though. If the Oil can get 50-60 points from their third line centre I'll be somewhat happy. I think that early season concussion set him back, hopefully that's behind him now.

Anyone else think that the crackdown on obstruction, clutching and grabbing seems to be slowing down? Hooking and holding isn't as bad as it used to be, but it does seem to be slowly seeping back into games. Or am I offbase?

Havlat's out for the rest of the regular season.

    HB,
They say he might be back for the playoffs.

Just in time for the Sens to choke.

That's funny, the playoffs are usually the time when Havlat disappears. One of the team's more dispensable guys, in my opinion.

    JJ, you're right.

He could play on The Invisible Man Line with Hossa and Yashin.

Lemieux has recurrent atrial fibrillation? Most people would be considered candidates for anti-coagulation, using coumadin to thin the blood, to prevent stoke. Don't know if it's a good idea to play a contact sport competitively on the drug. Wonder if Lemieux is done?

Is that anything like what struck Jiri Fischer?
Honestly I don't think they've determined what exactly happened and why to him.

The AP story says Lemieux is expected to be back on the ice in a couple of weeks once they get his meds worked out.

    From the AP story:

If this is true, that's good news that he's feeling better and should be well enough to play again - although he shouldn't, as stated before.
