Do you think Mike Milbury ever wishes he didn't trade for Mr. Carol Alt?

I actually ask myself this question about many of his trades three weeks down the road

If you look at the moves he's made as Islanders GM, it's amazing he hasn't been fired for gross incompetence.

They probably have at least one more SC there in the past five or six years when you go through the list of players he has traded away. Some young, some entering their prime, and he got nothing for almost all of them

At least one more Cup? If Milbury had held onto the talent the Islanders had, they'd be the Senators! The urine-stenched shithole would be packed every night, and Wang would be able to pay for a state-of-the-art arena.

Meanwhile, in Nashville, a potential Stanley Cup Finals preview: Rangers vs. Predators. Rangers are winning 4-0 in the second, with goals scored by Jaromir Jagr (22nd of the season), Steve Rucchin (two on the night, seventh of the season) and Petr Prucha (two on the night, 12 for the season).

Also, Rangers defenseman Jason Strudwick and Predators Darcy Hordichuk engaged in a spirited scrap, with Strudwick winning.

Another night, another lifeless loss by the Penguins. However this time Crosby didn't give the polite "we just got to keep trying" answer. He dug into the team and it's "effort."

    Sirs, Madames,

As one who was diagnosed with atrial-fib after coming down with pneumonia last winter (a virus that went right to the heart of the matter) and as a son of a senior with a-fib:

treatable, cureable, in most instances; only really worrisome if in fact a-fib is a symptom, the second domino to fall ... if the patient has any sort of heart disease, etc ... I was not really symptomatic (I wasn't complaining and I had helped my friend out with construction jobs during the summer (try running four yards of wet stuff up a hill in 30+C heat) ... just one episode when I felt lousy but it passed

the meds that I went on were not too invasive in the beginning--digoxin, cumidin, beta blocker, altace, one other--not too bad ... when I went on amiodarone, had the shit kicked out of me, brutal stuff

if Mario goes on amiodarone (a drug that is used to restore normal heart rhythm, he shouldn't be playing ... maybe he can try at 400 mg, but if he goes to 600mg, his season is done)

BTW Dollars to doughnuts reports of Fischer having a "seizure" are wrong ... heart stoppage yes, seizure highly unlikely unless he has a brain tumour or an unreported history of epilepsy ... which is not the case

    YHS, etc

Jiri Fischer needed an AED that fired. By definition, it means his heart was either in ventricular fibrillation or ventricular flutter. His "seizure" was likely some involubtary muscle twitches caused by lack of blood circulation in the body. One can seize for hours without having a problem with heart rate and rhythm.

With his history of heart irregularities before and after this event, I can speculate that he had Sudden Death from V Fib and was fortunate that it happened in a place where defibrillators could be used.

    Dr

Which is a long way of saying that he didn't have a seizure per se, just a seizure-like reaction and yes, his was more like ventricular fib or flutter or whatever, which is significantly more serious than atrial. But a-fib is not a day at the beach. If it's simply a-fib and cumidin, I think that Mario should be able to play--shit he goes hard for about 15 seconds a shift at this point and it's not like he gets excitable. (I wonder if he gave up smoking.)

But about these and other matters, what would I know? I know, I just asked my cardiologist and electrocardiologist and my md.

    Patiently, etc

Mario Lemieux will not play for Team Canada in the Olympics. Doesn't matter, since they're gonna win the gold with-or-without him.

Any ideas who will replace Super Mario?

They've got away from using the word seizure since the incident passed. Since then, most reports have been saying Fischer collapsed on the bench and had to be rescuitated. Of course, a lot of that is because nothing has really been said about what it was and what caused it.

But now, there is a 4 p.m. presser scheduled for Monday to talk about Fischer and his status.
