It was worth a shot. Like one of those Fantasy hockey trades on Yahoo where you hope the other guy hits accept trade by accident

Rangers lost 2-1 to Colorado tonight. In the middle of their toughest stretch of the early season, the Rangers have lost two consecutive games and have the Devils, Tampa and Ottawa in the near future.

Glen Sather needs to pull the trigger on the proposed Poti-for-Sykora trade with a quickness.

did Sykora bang Carlyle's wife or something. why would the Ducks
    want to make that trade?

Cap relief...plus, the Ducks aren't going anywhere. They can blow it up and start over for the 12,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999th time.

It was on the previous page, there are a few other pieces involved

    - Also in the Sykora fray, the New York Rangers are possibly looking at a deal that would see D Tom Poti and C Steve Rucchin head to Anaheim for Sykora and D Ruslan Salei, according to the New York Post.

the thing is they are giving up a quality guy in Steve Rucchin and getting back two guys who have never been noted for team guys.  With a Jagr you need as much balance the other way as possible. Adding a difficult-to-motivate Sykora while losing that team guy is not the best of trades ever. Although I think Salei for Poti is an upgrade for the Rangers. Mind you Cory Cross for Poti would be an upgrade for the Rangers, now that truely is saying something,

i could see them doing that if they get salei. i just think poti's value is pretty low right now.

Has it ever been high since his first couple of years in Edmonton? Hell I was surprised the Oil got what they did for him in the first place - Mike York, I believe.

Beef...There are some certain fan truths in hockey in my experiecne. Oiler fans cannot tolerate any smidgen of Calgary success. Their Cup win waslike a dagger in the heart of the faithful. Canadien faithful would commit harikiri if the Leafs ever win a Cup again. They barely can tolerate any memories of 67.

Leafs thumped the Islanders last night 9-6.

Di Pietro got yanked after 6 goals on 17 shots. Snow wasn't much better (god, he's an awful goalie) and Eddie finally got his 448th win to take over second place for most wins by a goalie. Trails Roy by 103 or so.

Bizarro game but the Leafs now have a strangle hold on 8th place. :)
