DiPetro's biggest problem is when he goes down for the butterfly. One leg goes down while the other is straight, leaving a huge gap in his five hole. The Leafs scored four goals through that gap.

    I've noticed that.

You learn basic butterfly technique when you're 11 or 12.

But he's great at handling the puck. Just ask Mad Mike.

His five-hole gap is a big as Roseanne. Stevie Wonder could fire a puck through it!

DiPietro's other problem is that he gets too cutesy with the stick. He tries to poke-check everything. A poke-check works in juniors. It doesn't work in the NHL.

Unless you're Johnny Bower. The guy perfected it.

In the hands of an amateur it's a loaded gun.

Just finished watching the Red Wing and Blue Jackets. 4-3 Red Wings in a shootout. After Justin Williams put up Detroit up 2-1, it was up to Federov to keep Columbus alive. He tried to go up high on Osgood who stoned him.

    Good stuff.

Two of the most courageous goalies in NHL history. Sawchuk and Bower

Listening to the Sens/Habs game on NHL radio.

Montreal down 3-0 and win in a shootout.

    Fuck Ottawa.

It was Jason Williams, not Justin.

And it was a good way to end the first shootout for Detroit, Osgood stoning Fedorov.

Very entertaining shootout. Great goal by Datsyuk to start.

And now every team has had at least one shootout this year.

And Kovalev ices a win for Montreal over Ottawa in a shootout.

Anyone who bitches about a shootout and says its not a right way to decide a hockey game must forget they are in the entertainment business.

Just curious my hoser friend, you didn't watch it? Aren't pretty much all games involving Canadian teams on national TV up there? Or was it a personal choice?

(I love my Center Ice Package for anyone who hasn't heard by the way.)

Sorry, Justin is with the Whalers.

Yet I know the difference between Ronald and Robert Petrovicky. ??? Go figure.

I have said that it's not a great way to end a hockey game, but it does beat the alternative -- a tie.

And I don't think there was one fan sitting down for the entire shootout tonight.

It is definitely an exciting way to end a game.
