Yes. And Washington's record was 8-67-5.

I won a bar bet once by knowing the Greg Joly of the Regina Pats was the Caps' first-ever draft pick (and among the worst first overall picks in draft history).

Man, do I need a life.

The Seals became the Cleveland Barons in 1976-77, lasted two seasons and merged with the Minnesota North Stars.

Which future Islander great did they pass over to get him?

Bryan Trottier, and he wasn't even the Isles' first pick that year.

Later (in that draft or another, I don't really know shit about hockey history) they passed over ANOTHER future Islander great to take Mike Marson.

Isles took Potvin first overall in 1973.

Caps took Marson with the first pick in the second round in 1974, three picks ahead of Bryan Trottier. With the exception of Trottier, Clark Gillies (who they took fourth overall) and Dave Langevin, there was little to recommend for the Isles draft that year.

Well, Trottier and Gillies seemed to work out well for the Islanders. And Denis Potvin was/is/forever will be a satanic sheep molesting fuck.

Ovechkin-Malkin-Kovalchuck might be the best young line in the Olympics.
