Loubardias may be awful on NHL games but he's absolutely unlistenable on junior hockey. He's at a loss when it comes to talking about players who haven't been drafted or aren't draft eligible.

It's amazing who you'll find behind a microphone calling games. I swear thee have to be better guys available then whoever Sportsnet gets to call Oilers games. They have been terrible ever since they picked them up. For the majority I think it has been Loubardias,, note I usually mute him and tune in Rod Philips via radio.

Just like back in the day when we would watch Blue Jays games on the tube, turn the volume down on Don Chevrier and Tony Kubek (and especially Fergie Olver) and put the radio on so Tom and Jerry could give us the play by play.

Somebody at Sportsnet should rescue Paul Romanuk from whatever purgatory he's in (doing Spengler Cup games?) and get him back on the NHL.

    Mr Huggy,

I've always thought that Loubardias's goal call evokes Art Fern of the Tea-Time Movie (the dearly missed Carson Tonight Show staple) ... I half-expected to say, "He scc-uuuuures ... take the Slauzen cutoff, get out and cut off your Slauzen."

    YHS, etc

That's who he reminds me of! It's been driving me crazy. Thank you, Mr. Miler.

    Can't stand listening to him.

    Mr C

All Loubardias needs is Carol Wayne doing colour commentary.

    YHS, etc

I like Sam Cosentino but the late Ms. Wayne would have made a much more attractive colour commentator. Loubardias would be almost listenable.

Great, great, great call on the immortal Art Fern. And where, oh where, have you gone Floyd R. Turbo?

Floyd R. Turbo on nuclear reactors:

"And what's all this fuss about plutonium: How can something named after a Disney character be dangerous? So what if an atomic plant blows up? The people who say that, they are afraid to die. I'm not afraid to die because all my life I have lived by the Good Book, the American Legion magazine...They say atomic radiation can hurt your reproductive organs. My answer is, so can a hockey stick, but we don't stop building them....Sure, nuclear leaks will affect the forest animals. So what if a deer grows up with two rear ends? They're easier to shoot...So in my simple way, I' m asking that you support nuclear energy. Remember being an American means being powerful, proud and pushy, and in conclusion let me finish by ending...Thank You."

    And on the draft:

"This station wants no draft. They want to deprive a boy of the Army. The Army is educational. The Army teaches you how to do dental work-with the butt of a rifle....how to tell what time it is by making a sundial out of a dead person...how to make beer out of bird droppings and also how to make a rubber girl out of an inner tube...In conclusion, I say we should not end the draft. We should increase it. We have a moral obligation to give Bob Hope soldiers to entertain. Fellow Americans, it is a honor to be drafted and to serve your country. Thank you, bye-bye, and buy bonds."

I'm not saying Kevin Weekes sucks. I'm saying he gave up a goal from the blue line. But he doesn't suck. No sir. ::)
