;D I think some of us will get it.

Enjoy your Rangers ... right now, the Hurricanes are hotter than the Carolinas in July. As much as people want to talk about Ottawa - justifiable considering how well they're playing - but Carolina came back to beat the Sens a couple of weeks ago.

    Good times ...

    Sirs, Madames,

Just a casual reading of the boxes last night--it looks like PPs were a little less frequent (I'm talking in broad strokes) than a given night in first week or two. Teams finally getting it? Zebra recidivism? Sending Wade Belak to the corner for pop? Probably all of the above.

BTW I'm all for radical scoring changes. In my world there would be own goals like soccer. Is there anything cheesier than getting credit for a goal when the other team does the work for you? But here's one that bugs me. If a team is on the PP and 15 seconds into the PP said team takes an interference penalty, that still counts as 1 full PP on the scoresheet. It's hardly an uncommon occurence. And the way stats are kept, it gives the illusion of there being a lot more 5-on-4 situations. Further: I think that 5-on-3s should be counted as just that, a separate designation. Not a 10 or 15 second 5-on-three but one of 40-seconds or more.

    YHS, etc

Agreed, Miler. Just doing the nightly agate stuff, I'm noticing that it's getting easier to fit three boxes in a column where I'd have to stretch two before.

Unrelated: Holy Cow Ovechkin is good. Leafs-Caps, he just made it 4-3 Washington with a nice little heads-up goal. Kid's great.

Who cares? The Flyers are going to the Cup out of the East anyway. ;D

As for the new vs. old NHL.... Jean Beliveau likes the new NHL.

"Well, in the last 10 years I (have attended) most of the games when I'm in Montreal and it's not exactly the type of game I would have enjoyed playing, and at the same time I didn't enjoy what I was watching. ... To me, the hockey stick is to make plays, to shoot, to get a pass. Unfortunately, in the last 10 or 15 years the hockey stick had become almost a weapon for too many players. I think the way I watch the game now and the way they're being refereed, every infraction involving the stick is called and I think that's the only way to do it. To me, hockey is a nice, fluid game — skating, not this slashing and crosschecking that we've been witnessing for so many years. And I really enjoy what I'm watching now. I think that's the way hockey should be played."

That is just cruel, hb, just flat out cruel. :'(

They're still going to the Cup. They'll just have to score 10 goals a night to get there. :D

I hear Ron Hextall isn't doing anything these days...I'm sure after a few games, he'll be in Hextallian form (giving up 50 footers and throwing a fit on the ice). :D ;D

That still might be better than what they have now.

Bobby Clarke doesn't like good goalies. :'(
