No, but if you allow a normal compound tire, they will fall off and get slick after about 25 laps, turning the track back into a true short track -- and giving the fans what they've come to love at Bristol. Hopefully NASCAR will allow Goodyear to bring a less conservative tire next April, but I doubt it. They've now managed to turn the one track they couldn't control into a 43-car parade.

Blaming the tires is a copout.

You sure you don't work for SMI?

No. That would be a hell of a commute. Besides I enjoy being poor too much. I just want to see what a softer tire will do at Bristol next April (seven months of driving school classes will also help cure the track). I think that will help racing, but why, oh why did the dreaded "aero push" creep up at Bristol? And how is that the fault of Bruton Smith?

So right after GM promises to pour a crapload of money into Tony Stewart, including backing Stewart's formerly Mopar sprint car teams, it gets the rug pulled out from under it.

I'm sure the people in Detroit are thrilled about that.

I'm sure whatever Toyota is throwing at JGR makes that crapload look like couch change.

Fans who get their kicks by watching Toyota suffer have one more year, tops.

Kenny Wallace, STFU already, you blowhard. As if Ford really wanted you to drive the car over Ricky Rudd. Bwahahaha!

    From Jayski:

    # Kenny Wallace to the #88? Kenny Wallace may return to the NASCAR Cup series next year if a meeting with Robert Yates goes well Sunday in California. "He called me up and said that his brother-in-law told him that the driver he needed to hire was right under his nose - me," Wallace said with his signature laugh. "I told him that the manufacturer wanted me to drive his car last but M&Ms wanted" Ricky Rudd. Wallace said Yates asked him to test the # 88 Ford at Talladega in the near future. "I keep reading that they are considering J.J. Yeley, so we will see what happens," Wallace said. "At least he called me, I didn't call him."(St. Louis Post Dispatch)(9-1-2007)

Does anyone know what happened to Keith Green yesterday? He seems to have been replaced at RIR.

He left RIR to take a job closer to his home in New Jersey. His call all the way.

Aimee Turner is his replacement. She was his chief deputy.

AP story linked through Jayski says Jeff Moorad and a partner are buying Hall of Fame Racing. Hmmm.

Will they hire Warren Wallace as their driver.
Greatest thing that ever climbed into a race car.

Anybody know what the deal is with Morgan Shepherd. I know his Busch team is underfunded. I know he's not racing to be competitive, but to do his ministry. I get that. But why has he not finished a race in three years? He doesn't get into crashes, but is usually off the track 30 laps in at every race.
