Not really high up on the breaking-news chart, but a story in Tuesday's New Hampshire Union Leader says that Jerry Carroll is Bob Bahre's latest suitor for NHIS.

I would rank the probability of that actually happening to be roughly the same as Michael Waltrip winning a race this season.

Story says that Carroll's offer for the track already has been turned down by Bahre mostly because of some comments DW made about the death track.

These may be some of the ugliest race cars I've seen.

I just threw up in mouth a little. Those are hideous.

For all the branding they're going to do with Junior, you'd think they'd put a little more effort into designing a nice number.

I'm faily certain I could draw something better than that.

I agree about the number. This design looks like something you would see in a Pro Modified race, not Nextel Cup. On the bright side, with the PepsiCo sponsorship - I'd bet that there will be some cool special schemes for some big races down the road.

They've de-Juniored Junior. I saw part of a press conference today and to do a double take. Clean shaven, a little slick in his hair *** that's not Junior. That's Gordon and it is fine for Gordon.
    Let Junior be Junior.

My son the Junior fan is seriously pissed. He'd switch his allegiance to the Gibbs guys but the Toyota thing bothers him.

Tried to watch the PC, but the Fox Sports feed blew, and ESPN didn't stream as promised. But Junior looked rather metrosexualized, and that's not a good thing. Could see this flopping a la Alonso and McLaren.

So much for Hendrick letting Junior be Junior.

And that car looks really gross. Why not a solid green car with the same metallic look as a Mountain Dew can? This looks worse than Darrell Waltrip's ride in the early '80s ...

Junior designed both of the cars himself. It was part of the deal.

And he is the happiest he's been in years, being out from under the thumb of the Evil Stepmother.

    From Junior today:

"I'm really, really proud of them. I think they're really, really good-looking cars. The sponsors and the numbers all pop well. The scheme is basic and clean. I really enjoy it.

"I told Rick when we first started talking about the contract that it was really important to me that it was in the contract that my car had color matching side skirts. He calls my sister and jokes with Kelley, says, 'He doesn't really care about the big stuff; he's a real nitpicker' (laughter). We've had a lot of fun with those little things.

"But we did do one thing that I was -- we painted the rear deck of the car flat black, which is sort of consistent with the Corvette that me and my father raced in 2001, which I thought was a really neat part about that car.

"I'm really excited to unveil them."

Then something doesn't match up. The decklids on both vehicles are white. I know I'm myopic, but even I can see they aren't black.
