Well, almost any rookie is going to eff up at Talladega or Daytona.

If you are arguing that Gilliland had too little experience to be running Cup, seeing as he had only run a handful of Busch races, then I'd agree with you.

But at a track where pretty much anyone and everyone wrecks thanks to pack racing, why rip him?

And Jeff, a test often simulates race conditions. I trust Villeneuve is smart enough to stay in the back of the pack and ride around. He knows his limitations.

Heard through the grapevine that Tony Stewart dropped an F-bomb on ESPN today. Of course, I was out working, and I didn't TiVo or anything. Can someone give me some confirmation/context?

Told an ESPN2 cameraman to "Get the fuck away from me" on pit road during Cup practice. From what I've heard, the cameraman was on the wrong side of the pit wall anyway, in an area he's not supposed to be in during practice. But that's all hearsay.

Also, congrats Kyle Busch. Win a Busch race, get your intake manifold confiscated.

Yes, there will be racing. How much is another question.

Over/under on if or how much time it takes Tony Stewart to cuss on TV when ESPN interviews him?

    :)

I think it was Bestwick who reported to the booth after Smoke's wreck: "Stewart declined our interview request." Color me shocked.

I actually checked in on my work e-mail to see if did give any interviews, but no transcriptions yet, at least none from Chevy.

I really have a very uneasy feeling about tomorrow.

    Any particular reason?

Is it Mikey leading the field?
JV pissing off Gordon and entering the race?

From what I've heard, the roof flaps have trouble opening on the Car of Tomorrow.

Therefore, if a car gets turned backward, which we know is a virtual certainty at Talladega, the air going under the rear bumper will be much greater than the small amount going under the wing, meaning it will be lifted up into the air. Add into that people at the front of the field whose cars are not in race trim, people like Villeneuve who have never raced it, and typical Talladega...and I fear it won't matter how "safe" the cars are.
