Not the biggest Michael Waltrip fan out there, but he did win two Daytona 500s -- one more than his brother, even though he couldn't hold DW's groceries. He may have been a creation of DEI and the RAD alliance, but he still won those races.

I'm thinking he might be seen in Victory Lane today. :)

There's a race today? I've been watching ESPN and there's been no mention of it.

How did Kelly Clarkson ever get her rear deck lid through inspection? More downforce there than is strictly legal, I suspect.

I wish there was a reliable place to find the actual starting time of NASCAR races. The TV schedules all said that the Daytona 500 was at 2 p.m. That's when the Fox coverage began. I saw one place that listed a 3:15 starting time. It appears that it won't start until 3:30.

When there is that much of a disparity between when coverage starts and when the race starts, newspapers really need to also list when the race starts. Sometimes the track Web sites list it and sometimes they don't.

    Who beat?

The 'start your engines' is supposed to be at 3:18. Three pace laps at Daytona just take longer than at most tracks.

Moddy: Not Ward Burton. (Glad to get the first "Who Beat" out of the way for this season!)

I thought it started at 2! Said so in the paper. So who fucking beat?

When did Nic Cage become Johnny Cash?

Even if it started at 2, Moddy, this will (I fear) be a 5-hour race.

Thanks for moving it back, TV and Daytona!

I'll call back in a hour then. Gotta find out who beat.

DW is beating off Toyota...but the race isnt over yet.

at this point in the race, i'd wager a Busch wins.
