I didn't see any of the race and haven't seen any highlights. Listened to the final laps on MRN. Impressive win for Harvick. Like Sxy, I am not a fan of Mark Martin and his self-serving Salute to You MCXV, but impressive run. Now he can see why Evil Jack was saying all those years that Chevy/Hendrick cheats with their engines. :D

For the first time in my life I was pulling for Martin. I'm happy that Dale's car Harvick won though.

It's not Dale's car now that Shell's sponsoring it.

It's so not worth the $100 they're charging. The Tony Stewart channel lacked the telemtery info and track position stats on the other channels. The announcers were talking over the radio traffic. I couldn't even hear the conversations. And I couldn't stand the commercials. Why would I pay $100 for commercials?

Fortunate for Bowyer that his car landed right-side up when it was on fire. It might have been tricky had he been upside down when that deal was burning...

What a friggin' wild race. I was in the box, and the place went nuts when Busch lost it in the corner. I felt like I needed three more sets of eyes. I watched Busch slide into some folks, and then I switched to the finish line. Then, when I tried to return to the wreck, all I saw was a mess. There were at least two cars, and maybe three, sliding across the grass. And that didn't count Bowyer, who came in a second or two later flipped upside down. Then there were a few more cars down near the start of turn 1. I'm not sure who those guys were. I thought I saw Gordon's car being towed off, but I can't be sure. Needless to say, it was quite entertaining for my first NASCAR race. And I don't know what's up with Cage. I'm not even sure that it was him.

    Didn't Mark Martin retire?

I guess Viagra keeps him going, eh? But, of course, he still didn't come through in the clutch ;D

He can get his motor running. But he can't finish. I think that requires a second prescription.

Considering a couple of the wrecks happened during commercial breaks, I thought the Hot Pass channels would dump out of the FOX commercials to address what was happening.

Overall, it's a good idea but with poor execution.

I'd long been a NASCAR fan, but when I divorced my first wife in 1999, I kind of fell out of watching. She was a big-time fan, too, so I distanced myself from that part of my past.

When my second wife and I got married, I finally convinced her to watch a Daytona 500 with me. She was thrilled and loved it. Right up until the part when Dale Earnhardt was pronounced dead. That did it for her and she never watched it again, which meant I never really watched it again.

And since my favorite driver -- Terry Labonte -- is no longer driving, I had no tie to the sport. But I made up my mind to get back into it, reviewed the field and picked a handful of drivers to support, one of them being Bowyer, and watched the race.

Man, it was freaking awesome. Great race, great excitement, and seeing it finished under the track lights, was fantastic. I'm hooked again. Thank you NASCAR.

    Welcome back AA.

Speaking of Dale... not sure I ever heard any announcer mention that 6 years ago Sunday, Dale Earnhardt died. Maybe it's just time to let things go and not bring it up every single race, but, seems like someone would have thought about the coincidence.

OH, and listening to Cold Pizza right now. Will Skip Bayless just keep his big trap shut?! He watches 2 laps of the Daytona 500 and then tries to act like he's been following racin' since his pappy was workin in the garage listenin to Fireball Roberts on the radio.
I understand how these sports shows work - you must talk about all sports news -- but for the love of god, if you don't know what you're talking about (SKIP), then just nod your head and let others take the floor.

    :)
