About as much as Duke and UConn getting No. 1 seeds in men's hoops.

Why is everything Denny Hamlin does a shock? Winning the Bud Shootout against a bunch of NASCAR stars? Perhaps surprising.
Winning a Busch race? One he started on the front row for? I would call it neither a "shock" nor "stealing a win."

jesus coolpapa, we get it, you are in love with Denny Hamlin. If and when you ever get that NASCAR beat writing job you have been salivating over, you can write about him every day and boast to the entire world that you predicted his success.

He won a friggin' Busch race. Let it go.
Offbeat, Coolpapa is being sarcastic cause he thinks Hamlin is going to win the title or something this year, and he takes offense to anyone who thought otherwise _ even though most of the free world had no idea who he was before he won the Shootout.

The win was impressive, though, especially given the way Said was chasing him down. Hamlin was saved by them there yellow flags.

Kyle Busch's blatant stupid move on Jourdain shows how these kids don't care about tearing up the cars nowadays. Maybe you make that move on the last lap, or next to last lap, but with 20-something to go? I wish these kids all had to spend more time in the shop. Maybe they could work in the fab shop once a week to help repair their own shit.

Not really. Hamlin was faster than Said at all but one place on the course.

I thought it was kind of strange how Saturday's Grand Am prototype race turned into Saturday night at the local half-mile dirt track.

And Busch Light? He's a bigger idiot than his brother was, and I think part of his brother's idiocy was due to who he was working for.

He's trying hard to change, he really is. He gets no help at all from his father, Thom, who is NASCAR's Drew Rosenhaus, or Kyle, already wearing out his NASCAR welcome.

I've never seen Kurt Busch as a bad guy, just a bit misguided and hardheaded at times.

Nate Ryan, lauded here for his excellent work that landed him at USA Today, did a top-notch piece on Ku. Busch sometime last season that addressed a lot of things. I'll see if I can find a link.

He's not an asshole. He just acts like one sometimes. There is a difference.

It's relatively easy to figure out the issues with the Busch brothers. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting one of them before either became successful, you met a completely different person than the dickheads you see today. They were cordial, unassuming and gracious. To be honest, they were, for lack of a better word, nerdy. It was quite obvious that neither were the "popular" guys growing up and Kurt told me he had few real friends.

Then they got rich. And famous.

Now, because all of it has come at them so fast and easy, they've completely changed. I keep expecting them to realize what they've become. Hasn't happened yet.

As for Hamlin, the guy's not that great. Good, yes. But let's keep in mind here that he's got some damn good equipment to work with. And his team is getting advice from one of the best around -- Zippy. That he's winning a few races shouldn't be a shock. It would be a bigger surprise if he didn't.

By the way, Charlotte is getting the NASCAR Hall of Fame.   Four p.m. today for the official announcement, I think.

Dog, you still need someone behind the wheel to do something with the goods. Witness Jason Leffler's second crash and burn last year, even though that team had Stewart and Zippy and Makar practically holding their hands.

Hamlin's capable. I said that he's good. But I also think he's getting some respect and love he doesn't yet deserve.
