Veteran driver Bobby Hamilton has head-and-neck cancer; had surgery to get a tumor removed Feb. 8 and will start radiation and chemotherapy Monday.

All the races are ho-hum. Daytona was decent, but except for Johnson's last-lap pass in Vegas, they have all been major snoozers.

Edwards will turn it back around. Does AP do a lot of stories on him? Never noticed.

Harvick is so far gone it's not even funny. If he wasn't, then he would be running as well as Burton is. I think Burton's finally hit it, after a few years of struggling with confidence.

Yawn on the Gibbs trio. The only bright spot was Smoke's tired act didn't pop up this weekend.

Even though a Dodge won today, they SUCK.

    * Maybe it's the ESPN cover jinx for Edwards? He has finished 43rd, 3rd, 26th and 40th in this year’s four races. I like him a lot and I hope his luck turns around.

    * As far as rookies go, I agree with you. With seven rooks who all have some experience and a few with multiple wins (albeit in the Busch Series) behind them, you're bound to get one of them in the Chase. You just about can't go wrong with Yeley, Truex Jr., Hamlin, Bowyer and Stremme.

    * Fox is so so so much better than NBC/TNT. That is if you can get over DW flappin' his "Jaws" ...

    * I love some of the new NASCAR commercials ... with Carl Edwards and Mark Martin, and the FedEx ones with Denny Hamlin. Great stuff. The Michael Waltrip NAPA classroom one is a disappointment, though.

    screeeeeee .... WHUMP!

 Well, see, I don't know what the cat in the 1974 car was thinking when he tagged me like that. It was too early in a 300-and-something lap race to be gettin that racy. I'd tell you what I really think of how he spun out the Folgers Monte Carlo SS, but Mike Helton would hit me for 25 points.

For a Monday-hookie-from-work crowd, it was pretty good.

The grapevine is saying Red Bull Toyota and has been since the team was announced. Goodwrench won't be the primary sponsor on the 29 for every race this year, which I assume is due to GM's money problems.

Depends on which gossip you're listening to.

Junior's car wasn't very good for the first half of the race; Biffle's was. The announcers were talking more about the different ways different drivers hold the wheel, but didn't bring up Mark Martin, who literally moves his right hand over to the left side of the steering wheel.

I think Hamlin's the best of the bunch.

DW is the problem. Much prefer NBC's low-key format.

The Subway ad with the 12" sub hanging off the front of the 16 as Biffle's incentive is the best so far.

If you think Carl Edwards has bad luck, then I guess you also think Robby Gordon is cursed. Every time the guy has an extremely good, top-five run going something happens like it did today at the end.

And Bobby Labonte officially was welcomed into the Petty No-Luck Camp today. Dude's car was stout.

Re: the commercials: The Denny Hamlin bumpdrafting lawnmowers one is easily my favorite.

Boat ad is better, because of the way it was shot. For the uninformed: They cut from the airhead announcer guy to two guys fishing in a bass boat, then suddenly a 50-foot express swamps them. Turns out, that's what Denny goes fishing in. :D

Kyle Petty is a category unto himself.
Bad luck + not a great driver = Kyle Petty.
    No comparisons.

I do feel for Booooby Labonte, though. Tough breaks losin' an engine.

And today's race, you only had two drivers not finish - Hermie and Labonte - I could see where some think that's boring racing. I thought it wasn't too bad given the lead changes in the final 100 laps.

    At least it wasn't orchestrated-by-a-phony-caution a green-white-checkered finish.

Did you hear Kyle's post-race interview today?: "I'm a great Monday driver"

Oh, and in reply to an earlier post, Robby Gordon deserves all the bad luck he gets as far as I'm concerned. As long as it doesn't result in serious injury, that is.

Ummm, that is, no serious injury to him nor his crew  :-\
