Man, I'm happy for FedEx, especially. They go from having to buy a ride at one point last year (the 600?) to winning a race with an up-and-coming driver. Good for them.

It sure makes Jason Leffler look awful though.

Denny is in the top 10 now.
Gordon isn't. Man, if he misses again ***
Dog, I'm about to take back my Gordon will win 100 concession.

Mears is OK with me. I'll bet he would do well at Hendrick.

Vickers is like McMurray, vastly overrated because they've never done shit. They're just young, that's all. One combined win between them, no Chase appearances. Throw Mears in there and the numbers don't change.

I just think Mears hasn't gotten his shot at a Hendrick/Roush quality ride yet. When you can't win in those cars, you're not a winner.

Nasty ain't the word. Five years ago that wreck is an RIP thread waiting to happen.

No doubt. Without that HANS or the SAFER barrier I'm not sure Gordon survives that wreck. I still wasn't sure for a few seconds after the wreck when you couldn't tell if he was moving in there. Then he pops out and is walking around fine. Just amazing.

It seems a lot of the vet drivers "retire" in the CTS -- Martin, Hamilton, Waltrip, et al, to run the shorter races and shorter schedule.

When Stewart is ready to leave, does he go back to the IRL to chase an Indy 500 title, as it has far fewer races and carries the prestige of being able to run the Indy 500? (I would've asked this about Gordon a few years ago, but he's a fender lifer ... Stewart, OTOH, will run anything with wheels and has openly said he'd like to run the 500 again).

Denny drives a Chevy, which makes it official ... I can root for the guy. :D

By that logic, I guess I'll finally have a dog in the fight when Toyota joins up (rummaging around for 88 Jarrett's new numbers sticker :) ).

I don't know Marty, although I'm sure many of you do. However, this doesn't sound like a good idea. Is it? From Jayski...

Smith to ESPN/ABC?: NASCAR.com's Marty Smith is rumored to be one of the commentators for ESPN's live race coverage when the cable network resumes live NASCAR broadcasts next year.
