Some of the sunrise shots they were showing were absolutely breathtaking.

So, Jeff, did you call him?

I did call, hoping to catch him somehow for a quote. I ended up writing a story with mostly background and action from TV that we put out front.

The first few times I called, I got a busy signal...which was pretty unusual for a cell phone. I'm guessing he had more than just me calling his phone. When I did get through, voicemail picked up right away and he didn't get back to me.

    Not that I blame him...!

    Damn.
Fucker beats a race and goes all big time!

(I kid before anyone goes apeshit).

    Who beat Michigan?

Looks like Jim Cantore, from all the umbrellas I see.

Seemed like an awfully quick decision to call the race after 120 laps due to the rain showers. Of course, NASCAR may know more than I do.

Moddy: Kasey Kahne beat Carl Edwards off pit road on the final yellow before the rain came and got the victory.

If they're looking at the same radar I was looking at, it's the right call.

Kahne has beat four times this year, three from the pole? That be right?

You are correct. He's four for four with this specific car.

    Gilliland update: Overnight media sensation?

Now all of the sudden, he's getting more publicity than some Cup guys get. He's going to be on the national teleconference tomorrow and his PR guy said they've gotten at least 30 requests from various media outlets.

You may have seen that the AP also did a feat on him today.

Moddy, I got ahold of him today. I think his PR guy helped squeeze me into the schedule. :D Still the same guy...thankful for always getting his name out there, he said.

Definitely more openings than drivers at the moment.

Sure Vickers is in play and Sadler's a possibility, but these are a few openings and I'm sure someone will point out a few missed here.

Red Bull Racing -- needs 2 drivers.

Michael Waltrip Racing - may need one if UPS moves there; or if another driver brings a sponsor there. Mikey wants 3 teams.

Bill Davis Racing - adding a second car.

Ganassi -- needs a replacement for Mears

Yates -- needs one for Jarrett. If Sadler takes one of the above rides, that's still creates a second opening at Yates.

And since Roush isn't cutting back next year, that I've heard at least, there's no driver being cut loose there.

So there are definitely more openings than drivers at this point.
