So I look on my fantasy team and see Junior starting 42nd. At Bristol. Since like one driver has ever won there starting from the backstretch. I didn't pick him.
And he finished third... my fantasy fortunes suck.

Kenseth also clinched a spot in the Chase. Kyle Busch, Dale Jr., Scott Riggs and Jeff Gordon rounded out the top five.

The Race for the Chase (two races left)

    Clinched
    1. Jimmie Johnson - 3499 points
    2. Matt Kenseth - 3492

    Sure Things
    3. Kevin Harvick - 3178
    4. Kyle Busch - 3097
    5. Jeff Gordon - 3091

    Good Bets
    6. Denny Hamlin - 3070
    7. Jeff Burton - 3064
    8. Tony Stewart - 3056
    9. Dale Earnhardt Jr. - 3051
    10. Mark Martin - 3049

    Highly Unlikely
    11. Kasey Kahne - 2959 (90 points behind Martin)

    Wait Till Next Year
    12. Greg Biffle - 2798 (-251)
    13. Carl Edwards - 2788 (-261)
    14. Kurt Busch - 2659 (-390)
    15. Ryan Newman - 2586 (-463)

Listened to only a snippet of the race, but Kyle Petty was in the top 5 for a while. Pit strategy get him there?

Petty qualified 8th, believe it or not.

Saw he finished 34th. Right as I was turning the race off on PRN, he'd been hit with a speeding-on-pit-road penalty.

By the way, when the heck is Jeff Burton gonna break through and represent my town, South Boston?

That would really make it a far-reaching place, wouldn't it?

I hope NASCAR and its fans are ready for the blinding charisma that is a Matt Kenseth championship chase.

Better get the motherfucking sunglasses out ...

Maybe so, but it's hard for me to think too badly of a guy who so thoroughly dominated a season that NASCAR, as per its typical stupidity, had to fix a season points system that wasn't broken.

Marty Smith had a pretty good interview with Ray Evernham, posted online on NASCAR.com. He asked some tough questions, I thought it was well done.

Yeah, and Evernham still ducked the questions that people want to know.

OK, he appears that didn't lie - wow, give him a gold star - but he was evasive as all get out.

I'm not a Jeremy Mayfield fan, but I thought Evernham's accusation that Mayfield was tanking was absolutely bush-league. Who wants to intentionally wreck? Are you kidding me?
