Mark Martin leaving Roush to drive one more year for Yates makes as much sense as Junior switching crews and cars with Waltrip last year. Am I right? I mean, does anyone see why this would be a good idea for Martin?

It's a good idea for Ford, which wants to protect one of its legacy teams and make sure Toyota doesn't throw it under the bus next year. No inside knowledge on that, just a hunch.

    Who beat?

Just kidding. Anyway, they just said JJ dropped a cylinder! Ouch!

And he looks like he's done after that wreck.

How much of it is he being in over his head and the fact that he's driving for what right now is the worst multi-car team on the circuit?

Riding around in back all day is a symptom of driving for a bad team. Hitting the wall repeatedly (and frequently with the back end of the car) is a symptom of being over your head.

I agree he's in over his head. He's no Denny Hamlin, but I wonder what he could do if he were with a team that had good equipment and a calming veteran presence.

Did you have somebody in mind? :D

Nope, but I think Doug Yates does.

Tom Jensen is quoting Geoff Smith (Roush's mouthpiece and sidekick) as saying that the Martin truck deal is done.

“On a handshake basis, those details are out of the way and now I have to get the paperwork done,” said Smith. “I think it’s a formality now.”

Personally, I think Smith is covering himself after realizing he left the barn door unguarded --- but then again, I've never been impressed with him.

I thought he pretty much said whatever Jack wanted him to say.

The horse has galloped far away from the barn at this point. I hope all the fans who bought that swag when Martin was on his "retirement" tour burn the shit after they realize the fraud that was perpetrated.

Please don't tell me I have to see another farewell Mark Martin commemorative special section?!?
And please, for the love of God, keep Rusty Wallace in the booth and off the track.
    Thanks.
    :)
