There are probably better places to post this news, and/or start a new topic ...

Heard from an AP writer that there was an attempted armed robbery at the Kansas Motor Speedway ticket office, and someone was shot.

    That's messed up, yo.

By the way, not a bad race today. Once again lady luck shines on Moddy's lover boy Hamlin. Was kinda pulling for Bowyer, though.

He was 18 down going in and 60-some down now. I didn't see a second of the race and still have no idea what happened to anybody other than Stewart won. Don't know who was second, nothing.
I can't get a grip on lady luck though, when you fall that far back in one race.
Jeff Burton will be the 2006 Nextel Cup Champion. The new system is working. Win once and you, too, can be champion.

Moddy: History would suggest you are right about Burton. In the previous two seasons, the leader after Kansas was your eventual champion. And Burton is certainly sitting in a good spot, if he can get through Talladega unscathed.

But the previous two seasons, the leader after New Hampshire was your eventual champion. So Harvick? Or Burton?

    Can't be both.

I was listening to a good portion of the Cup race from Kansas on the radio. At one juncture the announcer said that Kenseth had made 15 pit stops because of his ill-handling and loose Fusion.

Yeah, Kenseth finished decent and is still in the hunt for the Chase, but in your recollections what is a record number for pit stops you've seen/heard of in a race?

OK, so it's official now. Martin is going to run a partial schedule with MB2/MB3/MB4/Ginn or whatever they're calling it these days.

This is one of those what-the-fucks.

"Well, gee, I've just given this my all for the past billion years and now I'm gonna just go relax and run some trucks for Jack, and gosh, isn't it going to be terrific? I just can't wait to run those trucks and do it for the fans."

"Thanks, Mr. Ginn, for offering me $10 million per race! I'd love to turn my back on Jack, waste the 19 years of equity I built up with Ford and run in a mediocre car for 20 races a year. Gosh, this is exactly what I had in mind all along."

What the fuck? Someone has got to explain this one to me. This makes about as much sense as Dale Jr. swapping cars and crews with Mikey.

Jeff, I wonder if this is Roush's way of getting around the ownership cap. Maybe MB2 conveniently switches to Ford after the season ends -- they would be higher up in the pecking order than with Chevy, though I don't know the status of their manufacturer's contract -- and gets access to Jack's little black book.

Given Boris Said's ties with Roush and MB2, that might make the above scenario more likely.

Ooh, good one. I like that one a lot. Even if it doesn't happen, that's a great theory.

Again, I don't have any insight. I doubt Roush would've been present and given his blessing if he weren't gonna get something out of it.

P.S. Martin better not jerk his fans around with another "Salute to You Tour, Part VI."
