This is going to be a long season if Mr. Kobe defends every swipe on this thread.

Chuck: Kobe's brought anything he gets on himself. For the betterment of this thread, can you please get out of boner mode? Please?

In other NBA news, Cavs get Pavlovic back, will wait Varejao out. What's weird about one and not the other signing is that the prevailing theory was that they were working together to force the Cavs' collective hand.

    Looks like Varejao's SOL.

I agree Aldridge was the player of opening night, when given his age and the competition he faced.

As for Kobe, if you're double and trilple teamed - PASS.

McGrady looked good but that Rafer Alston. 5 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists. That is not a bad line. Granted he split time with Mike James (who!? Mike James!), but Alston should be holding down the most minutes at point.

I admit, he was hogging the ball last night. No doubt about that. But who do you pass to? Especially when you don't have Lamar Odom. When you're facing Yao and T-Mac, and you're the best player in the league with a terrible surrounding cast, you have to do what you have to do.
He's proven many times that he can be a passer. Last year, he tried being that type of player and it got them no where. Why do you think he only averaged 31 when in te previous year, he averaged 35? If he didn't go back to the 45+ a night Kobe, they would've missed the playoffs last year.

P.S. How about that pass to Derek Fisher at the end?

    1. When did I ever bring up Kobe's off the court news? I was just talking about the game.
    2. Everything I say has truth to it. You can call me a fanboy all you want, but if thats all you got, you got nothing. If you want to debate me, debate me with facts.

Lord, I just hope 1/2 of the reigning tag chumps of the world doesn't start weighing in with his Kobe beef.

I for one am looking forward to seeing what the Mavs can do this year. An opening road win would be lovely.

The greatest players can make their teammates better. I think it's time for Kobe to show some faith in his teammates and try to help them out instead of make himself look like a hero. I'll guarantee the Lakers will win a few more games if his "supporting cast" has some more opportunities to get stronger.

I think there's a good chance Kobe is moved to Chicago tonight. Talks are ongoing.

Dirk still looks like he wants to take someone's head off.

Of course he does. And that should've been an offensive foul on Jason Terry for kicking LeBron on his way to the basket.

Nonetheless, solid start by Dallas, up 29-15 after one.
