I want to know what it's like being a one-trick pony.

We get it. You're not a Kobe guy.

Yeah, the Lakers ended up losing at overtime(two dumb plays by Kobe). But they would've never been in the game if it wasn't for him.
The Lakers are trailing 88-76 with 4:31 left in the game. Bryant goes off and scores 25 of the last 28 points for the Lakers and puts them back in the game.
16 seconds left in the 4th. Yao intentionally fouls Kwame Brown. Brown goes up and misses both free throws(in case you haven't noticed,he's no amare stoudemire). Bryant goes superman, grabs the long rebound, and makes a 3-pointer(a great shot) to tie it at 95 and sends it into overtime.

Thank you, Kob-Me. You're the gift that just keeps on giving. I needed a good chuckle tonight, and you and the Apologist crew never fail to come through.

I think the next Kobe marketing idea should be either the big red nose or the Ronald McDonald shoes. It just does not stop, people. Sweet!

Some first buyers of the above-mentioned items might include last year's Simmons, Jemele and her editors, and any number of others.

Kobe - The Myth, The Legend. The first-round quitter when times get tough.

Bless you, Kobe. Keep on keeping on...

...keeping all of us laughing our asses off

    Peace!

Thought you were taking a break mang. Dont worry yourself over Kobe's BS. Worry yourself how I'm going to get home after the Mavs win the fucking title this year!

TD - I try to get away, but the Kobester just keeps pulling me back in. How many times do you get to see 44 FGA + just 2 AST? Dude's just a statistical anomaly. He's Neo in the Matrix, except Mr. Smith just keeps kicking his ass.

The Mavs are getting it done. They look damn good, but they still have to do it in the postseason. But hard to pick against them.

I don't like Kobe. I think he is a fraud, but I don't have to repeat it over and over to get my point across.

I think people are getting a wee bit tired of the anti-Kobe diatribe. Not picking at ya, just stating a fact.

You think? What gave you that idea?

Oh, yeah, nobody on here wanted to talk about Kobe after I brought him up. I mean, Ellis' thread about Jemele and Kobe only got, what, 4000+ views. Definitely a ratings loser.

I'm well aware of the zeitgeist and people's take, TD. Unfortunately where Kobe's concerned, there's so much built-up hype with him, any serious debunking of his myth takes sustained, diligent pointing out of facts. That's what I'm here for, to try to assist the uneducated or the media-biased "And-1" raised hoops fan who doesn't know what the hell he or she is talking about.

If you think this isn't a necessary service, why don't you go ask Jemele or her editors or her readers how 'unnecessary' it is.

TD, let me give you an example of what I'm talking about, where it regards me.

When I did my last Kobe thread, someone (I honestly don't remember who) had the temerity to try to tell me that I was really writing a blog, and he - BBS Zen Master - didn't think it was appropriate for such entries to be on message board.

Response that got from me - 0. Anyone who is going to try to 'instruct' me on the appropriateness of message board vs blog content or on the nuances between writing styles is automatically placed into the 'mental midget' category by me. I don't suffer that crap. I don't brag like JDV might, but let's just say that my intellect and writing bonafides are all in good order.

To put it another way, Luke wasn't teaching Yoda the ways of the force. Superfluous.

No one here has to like my take or my writing style, or me. But believe me, I know exactly what people think about me and what I'm doing when I write here, particularly when I start a thread. I know what I'm doing, and I know how I'm doing it.

I know people get tired of hearing Kobe's a fraud. I know kids don't like eating vegetables. Both are still necessary.

Thanks, and I'm sorry for jumping on you. I have no problem with you at all, you're a great guy.

It's just that I'm not sure how long it's going to take for some of the people on here to get that everything I'm doing here is to some end (well, almost everything). Now you might not like the purpose, which is fine. No one has to.

But to try to go all 'didactic' on me is either to a) show oneself as a rube who doesn't understand I know what I'm doing or b) to set yourself up for a withering counterattack.

After I ripped spnited a new asshole after he took and ill-advised and ill-conceived cheap shot, someone put on the thread that it was 'the best rip on anyone' they had ever read on any message board, ever. I can't tell you how many PM's I've gotten in the 6 or so months I've been here saying such-and-so post I read was 'the best' thing someone had ever read, etc.

The point is not to boost my ego. The point is I'm not necessarily the guy you want to get into a flame war with, lest you end up with 3rd degree burns and your ass on fire.

I know I can write. This isn't a new development for me. I've worked my ass off at it, as has everyone else here. But some people here have the 'moth-to-flame' syndrome, and they just can't help themselves as they slide into position in front of my crosshairs.

Like I said, most of it I just ignore. Sometimes I just wonder if the people like the guy I mentioned actually believe they are telling me something I'm not aware of (e.g., blog stuff). I don't think they do, I think it's attempted sarcasm, but there are times I'm not sure. I hope it's attempted sarcasm, but I have learned that I sometimes overestimate others.

Wait ... Is that? ... No ... wait? ... Yep, it is.
RokSki just proved that self-fellatio is indeed possible.
    Bravo, sir.
