I think it's time we made a serious proposal for Vince Carter as MVP.

He had 46 points tonight (scoring is the key, of course), his team's near .500, and he's never led any team anywhere (well, he did get the Raptors to the ECSF (or was it the ECF) a few years ago.

I think this is a candidate for the times. Sounds like an MVP, doesn't he? :)

Now you're comparing Vince Carter to Kobe? There is so many things that are wrong with this, I don't even know were to start. First of all, Kobe is 10X better than VC. Second of all, the guy plays with Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson. My god Rok, are you serious with this stuff?
And oh yeah, what happened last night? I see you were talking about the game when the Lakers were losing, but when they won after Kobe dropped 46, you stopped talking about it. But don't worry, I'm sure you forgot.

They won the game but I will say this.

Mavericks without Josh Howard=No NBA finals

No, I had to go and break out the confetti after the Lakers put the 3-point whipping on the second-worst-team-in-the-West, no-Jesus-Shuttlesworth Sonics.

Also, I had to mail in my "Kobe = MVP" ballot. It was a tough call, after Vince put up 46 I got a little sidetracked, what with all the scoring and .500 records, but after Kobe helped Damien Wilkins become more than an NBA afterthought, I decided he was, for sure, the NBA's MVP.

I think with LAL slipping into 7th place last night, the MVP vote should be very secure now for the Kobster. Players on either conference's top teams need not apply.

Gimpy - You make good points. I'm sorry I haven't taken the time to respond to your post yet.

If you're going to say Kobe's a terrible defensive player(which he isn't), how come you're not talking about Nash and Dirk?
Let me mention this again, VC plays with Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd. You think they're as good as Smush and Luke? He also plays in the worst division in basketball. Let me show you some of the standings in west from 6th to 9th place.

    6. Denver 40-36
    7. LA Lakers 40-36
    8. LA Clippers 37-38

    9. Golden State 37-40

You tell me which team has the least amount of talent.

EDIT: And you wanna talk about something bad? How about the Mavericks dropping 71 points against.........the Denver Nuggets. No that's not a typo.

Gimpy - Thanks. Nope, didn't miss it.

Chuck - Both suck, no question, on D. But maybe we can talk when the Lakers win more than 45 game with Kobe as #1? I mean, what is this, the "Andre Dawson for MVP" campaign? The Chauncey argument is a lot better than Kobe's, IMO.

    :)

Again Rok, this is the MVP. Most Valuable Player award. Like I said, if this was the "Best player on the best team award", Chauncey should've ran away with it last year and Jermaine O'Neal should've won it during 2003-2004.

Oh he's getting it done(34 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds). Unlike Steve Nash's teammates, his can't hit open jumpshots.

Raja Bell's 6-6 from 3 point range, Barbosa had a great game(19 points), Stoudemire with 19 and 9 rebounds. I can go on and on.

Don't forget Rok, Kobe and some random guys were up on Steve Nash,Amare,Marion,Barbosa, etc. 3-1 last year. With those teammates, don't you think Nash should've swept them?
