The MLS All-Star game went from Fulham to Chelsea and now Celtic. I'm sorry but this is a step down. I cannot forget how awful I felt when I walked into Giants Stadium last year to watch the Celtic v. Chivas (Mexican). I looked down at the pitch and realized how much utter shite was on there for the price of my ticket.

While I like Nakamura just fine, I am not sure he will even be with Celtic next year as there is interest from EPL teams.

So, another off-season summer tour for Celtic. And I am left to wonder, are they going to bring anyone of value?

Report coming out of England that George Gillett, owner of the Montreal Canadiens, is planning a takeover bid for Liverpool. The Dubai consortium is still the favorite to take over the club, but this could throw the cat amongst the pidgeons a little bit.

I wouldn't mind another North American owner buying in. I'm not a fan of Liverpool, but that matters little.

So does this mean you're permanently being sarcastic Pastor?

I think Dubai still wins out here. Liverpool fans won't be as reticent to getting taken over, since they'll look at the money they can invest and hope they can then compete with Chelsea and Man Utd more prominently. It's been a long time since the Anfield boys won the title. They haven't won it since it became the Premier League.

Nope, I don't do the sarcasm font thing. I wanted to post in blue and it just so happened that the sarcasm thing came up at that moment. Oh well.

As to Liverpool... It really is all about the money.

    Well that's good to know.

Well yes, it's going to be about the money. And talking of money, Platini beat out Lenny Johannsson for the head of UEFA position today. One of Platini's proposals is to cap Champions League participation to three teams a country.

I don't see that going through. I read his comments, but I just don't understand it.

Then again, this is UEFA. They overturn their own rulings to make them more tough.

Sir Alex has already fired a shot across his bows. There's no way the big clubs let this stand.

    The Gooch saga:

Boro, Fulham, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Marseille....

....now Newcastle? Anywhere but there -- the place where careers (and dignity) go to die.

They need him badly. Thanks to injuries, the Magpies have no-one back there, you just had to see their 5-1 kicking at the hands of Birmingham last week to realize that.

    So does Marseille.

If you had to pick somewhere to spend the next six months, would it be the south of France or le Cote de Geordie?

Is Gooch out of contract after this season? The loan move doesn't make sense if he is going to go back to Belgium in the fall. But if he will be a free agent after June, why hasn't he tried to sign with someone on a Bosman?
