So you're fine with the youth setup the way it is, then?

    --------

    pmarty,

You'd be hard-pressed to find people outside the soccer community who have even heard of Klinsmann. Hell, more people probably know him by his Blue Star alias, Jay Goppingen. He's a personality, sure, but it'll take a lot more than an effervescent German to get the Jordans and Vicks of the land to take up soccer as a career.

As for the USSF surrendering power ... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

    --------

    GB,

Even if Gulati still has a hard-on for Klinsmann or Pekerman, I don't see the USSF pulling the rug out from under Bradley before CA/Gold Cup two-step (barring a complete capitulation on Wednesday). His interim contract is up after those tournaments anyway, right?

Bradley doesn't have an interim contract, per say, the USSF basically said when it appointed him that it would appoint its permanent head coach just before the gold cup

Sure, but why would you want to be breaking in someone brand new right before the two best chances to showcase this supposed new era of U.S. soccer? Do well at Copa America, we turn some heads and take the edge off the disappointment in Germany. Win the Gold Cup, we get a crack at the Confederations Cup.

There's very little between the end of those two tournaments and the first round of CONCAlaugh qualifiers (assuming they use the same set-up as before, which they will, since Jack Warner's still in charge). If Soccer House is going to bring in someone new, that's the time to do it.

That's what you get when you put an economics professor/looser fanboy in charge.

Amazed he didn't get the job sooner, considering his stellar track record with the Revs.... ::)

Trooper, I think that's the point. They still want these guys, and I think the insinuation is that Bradley had better get a good showing out of the next three games.

I certainly wouldn't shock me if they pulled the rug if things don't go well.

It isn't so much what I am OK with, it is what I am not OK with. I am not OK with someone coming in and revamping a system when that person had never done such a thing before.

I call it the "Heck of job, Brownie" syndrome. Klinsmann has been the head coach of ONE national team. While he did get them to play some exciting soccer that has nothing to do with an ability to run an entire organization.

I also don't think Gulati is just some loser fanboy. The guy has stones. He also knows where he wants the team to be. I have a friend that I always revert to on such matters. The guy is an unabashed genious when it comes to the game (if it was up to me, I would put him in charge). I don't know anyone that doesn't share this opinion. But he had told me to give Gulati some time so see what was up his sleeve. He also said it is ludicrous that Klinsmann would obtain autonimous control.

You need people to be in their optimum position. Let Gulati worry about the youth system. Klinsmann, if he wants to coach, can worry about coaching. He doesn't need to worry about what is going on elsewhere. Besides, at best, he would be around for 8-years, nothing more.

MLS Schedule's out. 16 of the Galaxy's last 17 games are on TV. Wonder why?

    50 minutes until game time.

Hey, it's still that national team, and it is Mexico . . so yeah I'm excited.

Good pre-game show by ESPN2, if a little devoid of actual game analysis -- I love a full half hour so that the announcers are not rushed.

that may have been the worst pre-game I have ever seen, you can tell ESPN2 brought out the C- team

every time I look up at this game, looks like we're getting bogged down in the midfield.
