That puts them in a pretty bad spot in the next round. Speaking of the round of 16, besides Newcastle v AZ Alkmaar what are the other matchups?

First Leg matches: AZ Alkmaar @ Newcastle; Bayer Leverkusen @ Lens; Benfica @ PSG; Espanyol @ Maccabi Haifa; Osasuna @ Rangers; Shakhtar Donetsk @ FC Sevilla; Tottenham @ Braga ; Werder Bremen @ Celta Vigo

Edit: reverse the home teams for first leg ... this is the second leg matches

Such a shame that the Carling Cup had to end like that, and even though I hate Chelski with a passion I'm glad that Terry is going to be ok. What a shot he took.

    What he said.

I was going crazy, since this wasn't televised on FSC or Gol (?????). But I saw it on ESPN and yes, that was a frightening injury. Good to see Terry back at the end of the game.

Not good to see Arsenal lose, even if Drogba scored a hell of a goal. He's having a lights-out season.

Lucky that a trainer was so close. Imagine if something like that happened on the playground. I remember that something like that happened with the Knicks about 20 years ago, where they worried that an injured visiting player was going to swallow his tounge.

Everyone was wondering why they let Crespo go after last season, including a Chelsea fan friend of mine. That talk has died quickly with the season Drogba is having.

  8. Crespo and Drogba are essentially the same player -- both opportunistic poachers who are lethal from inside the 18. Didn't make much sense to carry both on the bench. Plus, Crespo hates England, loves Italy (wife is Italian, lives in Lake Como).

It's close, but I still take C. Ronaldo over Drogba. United are often useless with out Ronaldo, whereas for Chelski, Terry is still the most important player.

Talking of Italy, are Inter going to lose again this season? 17 straight wins in Serie A with a 5-2 win against Catania.

So, it seems that AC Milan is blaming Celtic for the lack of "stars" in their last match. Those players didn't play because of flu symptons. Well, it turns out, according to AC Milan, that the fire alarm went off in the building which immediately cuts off the hot water so the players were showering in cold water.

As much as I'm not a fan of Celtic, I find this wholly entertaining and a great move on their part.

Why do you have to shower to go play a freakin' soccer game?!? It's a sport, not a beauty competition you freakin' prima donnas.[/grizzledolfootballcoach]
