I figured that, but I had to hedge my bets.

I just think that with all the time we all spend fighting off a-holes who come to the soccer threads just to say "Soccer sucks!!!!!", dudes should at least have a real take behind ripping our professional league while others are talking about enjoying supporting it. Not some bad, arrogant joke about their face.

Good to see a quality player sign up, not just someone with 1-2 years left. No offense to Schelotto, but Angel is only 31 and has, what, 3-4 good years left?

Hopefully this is the start of a trend.

Still reading about Zizou to Galaxy rumours, but I can't see that happening.

The odds of Zidane signing with El Lay are about the same as me signing as Salt Lake's designated player.

There'll barely be enough of the ball to go around with Donovan and Beckham as it is. The whole thing stems from Alexi Lalas' inability to shut his damn mouth.

    -------------

JPA makes New York a scary bunch, especially if Cletus can stay focused all season. Not sure if I'm as impressed with dealing Wynne away for a second-round pick and $60K in allocation cash.

    -------------

    Piotr,

Did you watch Kansas City Saturday? That performance was anything but plodding.

Yup. I just came to post on the Wynne trade. I'm not happy.

I think that getting a second rounder for him is horseshit. Serious horseshit.

Your boys better hope Toronto suck-diddily-ucks it up, then. The best the pick could possibly be is 14th (or even 15th if there's a new team).

TB, that is spot on and exactly why I hate this deal so much.

This looks like a straight up salary dump. Sorry, but there are bigger wastes of a spot *cough* Schopp *cough* taking up big salaries.

    Agree with the Galaxy take. Lalas is a . . . fascinating . . . . interview subject.

Did not see KC yet. I know they have some good talent; that's what I get for pulling a team out of the air, since no one ever confused KC and Columbus with marquee franchises.

Lalas is a guy that doesn't shut his mouth. He's also a guy that is all about Lalas. He's a constant self-promoter

And Piotr, I would have gone with the Crew over KC just based on the yellow kits. Although, their history is good either.

KC was on FSC Saturday evening ... just punked the suddenly shaky DC United. Eddie Johnson looked like he cared, Burciaga played defense and FSC actually acknowledged KC's existence -- it was a weird night all around.

    Speaking of marquee franchises:

KC -- 2 MLS Cup appearances, 1 championship, 1 US Open Cup title
Cbus -- 1 Supporter's Shield (best regular season record)
NY -- Hey, how about that La Manga Cup? :D

Okay Trooper . . .MLS WANTS NY to be a marquee franchise. WE can agree on that? And hey, that Open Cup final in 2003 is nothing to sneeze at!

The Wynne trade was something I had no idea about. I need to get on the ball. Been so damn busy with other stuff lately, haven't followed MLS like I have in the past.

But yeah . . . . seems they could have found a better deal for a player like that. NY will be dangerous offensively. But after Reyna inevitably goes down, it will be interesting to see how disciplined their defense is.

(Now slinking away quietly to read more MLS news and look at the rosters, so as to be better equipped to controbute to future MLS discussion)

We love our La Manga Cup! It is great to drink that Margarita's out of. That is what we have it for, right?

    Re: Galaxy/Zidane:

The Galaxy obviously will need a second DP slot for Donovan next year. Do they have it already, or is this loudmouth "offer" to Zidane just a shot in the dark?

I ask because I assume there are hardcore fans and/por MLS beat people here, and I have found no verification that LA has a spot for Zidane. And something tells me they'll have trouble getting one for Donovan, much less to stack their squad with the likes of Zidane.
