Kreis is reportedly retiring to become coach.

I'mnot a big RSL/MSL/soccer follower, but I've long thought from afar that RSL needed a different coach. They've NEVER been able to score goals.

Well that makes sense. Does anyone know if Kreis has his badges, or will he be allowed to pick them up as he goes a la Gareth Southgate and Middlesbrough.

And is that why Ellinger is staying on as technical director?

The email just showed up in my inbox. It looks like Idaho beat me to it! :)

I find it odd that Kreis is going straight from the playing field to the managing side. Normally you work your way up.

From previous conversations with those in the know John Harkes wanted a head coaching gig straight up a couple of years ago without having been one on any level before.

I don't know about Kreis' badge situation.

    Here's a question...
With the RSL move made so closely to their game with RBNY, what will be the impact?

Kreis is no longer in the line-up, who will score?
    What line-up will he use?
How does Adu fit in those plans?

I actually feel bad for those in Utah.

This is what makes me think this is a Southgate situation, and why Ellinger was retained as Director of Coaching.

He'll work towards his badges while being the manager in name.

    Asking again:

Wasn't AC MIlan only in Champions League because it won its appeal of the ban for match fixing?

You're correct. If I remember it got in thanks to the Italian Federation allowing them in after their appeal.

I thought it was because the team that was to take their place hadn't registered and the penalties hadn' come down until after that deadline.

From a soccernet story at the time:

"The club [Milan] have been one of four sides found guilty in the match-fixing scandal that has rocked Italian football, but can now take part in Europe's top competition after having their punishment reduced by an Italian football appeal court."

They still had to get approved by UEFA to play, but it was the Italian FA that greased the skids for their participation.
