Good god, how about maintaining the resurgence the national team has seen thanks to the young talent that's finally being developed? The National Anthem doesn't matter if you beat France/Italy/Ukraine away from Hamden.

I would like to post on the US v. China game, but I have yet to see it. I did taunt my wife a bit over the final score, so that was amusing. I have the game recorded and should be watching it tonight after I pack for this weekend's Rangers convention in Fla.

Quick side note: RBNY coaching staff is not too happy with Reyna's "injuries."

Beckham's created two more goals for England today against Estonia...probably saving McClaren his job.

Scotland was able to fend off the venerable Goliaths to the north, the Faroe Islands, 2-0 in their country.

Honestly, I was a bit surprised to learn that one of the islands was large enough to place a soccer pitch on it.

Just got tickets for Boca Junior vs. Club America & Deportivo Cali vs. Caracas at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale next month.

    Life is good.

HELSINKI, June 6 (Reuters) - Goals from Jonatan Johansson and Alexei Eremenko gave Finland a comfortable 2-0 win over Belgium on Wednesday to keep alive their slim hopes of reaching next year's Euro 2008 finals.

In what must be a unique occurence in the history of international soccer the Group A match was held up for six minutes midway through the first half after an owl landed on the pitch and refused to move.

U.S.-Guatemala hasn't even started yet and already FSC has fouled things up. They have DMB and Bornstein on the right and Donovan and Hejduk on the left. The Guates are, unsurprisingly, 4-5-1 with Ruiz up top.

    Full line-ups:

USA -- Howard; Bornstein, Bocanega, Onyewu, Hejduk; DMB, Bradley, Feilhaber, Donovan; Twellman (!), Dempsey.
Guatemala -- Trigueno; Melgar, Medina, Cabrera, Albizuris; Noriega, Conteras, Gomes, Quinones, Avila; Ruiz.

Donovan fouls up his first set piece, but finds Boca on a corner. The header is straight at the Guate GK (who doesn't look all that sharp).

The refereeing crew is Honduran, for those who are interested in such things. Ruiz has two pancakes to his name in the first five minutes.

If you had 7:48 in the "How long will it take Max Bretos to butcher a Spanish name" pool, you win!
