I get so tired of being told how to behave at a soccer game. Silly me. I go to watch the teams play.

Real tried to throw money at the Galaxy. Lalas didn't blink. Take your checkbook away, you should have resigned him when you had the chance.

My pleasure, twoby. Having been on those boards since April 2001, I'm convinced BigSoccer posters won't be happy until the US plays Brazil, Mexico or England every week, wins every game at least 10-0 and each poster is individually consulted as to who the US should start.

Of course, even then you'll still have the EuroSnob crowd who'd sooner watch a Telford-Boston United preseason friendly than MLS Cup.[/wishIwerekidding]

GB, that's the first intelligent thing Lalas has done since he left Serie A.

For those who are interested, Canada is showing signs of life against Haiti. I seem to remember a few people (not here) talking the Haitians up as a sleeper team, but they're more in a coma than REM sleep.

Canada wins Group A, beating Haiti 2-0. Costa Rica edges out Guadeloupe for second by virtue of its head-to-head win.

Canada gets the Group B runner-up in the quarterfinals. Costa Rica gets the Group C runner-up. If Guadeloupe makes it, they get the Group B or C winner.

Good for Canada, and De Rosario. They'll make a semifinal interesting.

who is hoping for a Mexico-USA matchup in the quarters ... not many? I think it would be great! Mexico is so overrated and is the MNT's only real threat in the Gold Cup ...

while many don't think it's smart of the U.S. Soccer Federation to put its best players in the Gold Cup instead of Copa America, all I have to say is, the winner of the Gold Cup goes to the Confederations Cup which iwill be played in Africa against European teams, what better test for the next world cup than that, which will be played in Africa against European teams

I agree with all of this.

I would like to comment on this further but I'm still trying to get updated on the games. I returned home yesterday from the Rangers Convention in Naples, Fl. It was beautiful. However, my body is somewhat beaten down by ingenstion of libations from noon until around 4am everyday. It was quite a cycle.

I did meet and have my picture taken with Walter Smith. Upon departing I asked him to sign Beasley; this was Saturday. Today, I'm getting word that he's signed. I'm trying to find a confirmation online, but am coming up short.

I have the US games recorded and will be able to catch up tonight. I did watch the US/Guat match last night but was a bit tired. I did like what I saw. I'm very happy with the US winning.

Nice to see that DMB will be playing in Champions League/UEFA Cup, but I would have liked him to stay in the EPL.

Apparently, the Confederations Cup will be played in Africa against European teams.
