First Wojo from ESPN, now Dahlberg. Yep, looks like it's time for sports columnists to bash soccer.

    Edit: Thanks GB.

Wojo was ESPN, but they'll all be crawling out of the woodwork in the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, Brazil scrapes through to the Copa final on penalties after Uruguay's two shooters in sudden death completely blow it.

First one, to win the game, hits the post. Second one hits it straight at the goalie, game over.

And the Galaxy prepare for life with Becks ... by losing to a USL-2.

I'm sure Jim Rome won't be late to the party.

Hopefully Eric Wynalda will be in attendence at Rome's party.

I'm sure Frank Deford will have something to spout as well.

It's gonna be somewhat amusing as people write columns that accuse we the soccer geeks of A. saying Beckham would be the best player in MLS; B. saying Beckham would make soccer the biggest sport in the USA; C. saying anything other than how cool it will be to see the dude play.

Geez, we're just happy someone with a big name decided to take MLS' money to come play here. And we hope against hope that there will be others in the future. We have no illusions, which probably shows we understand the situation much better than the soccer bashers.

    Live and let live.

Well, this isn't really a surprise. It seems that anytime soccer gets in the news, and that news is somewhat positive, it creates some sort of reflexive response. It is almost an absolute must that the "soccer sucks" articles are written.

I would say that it is amazing, but not really.

Also, I've only just come online, and havn't had a chance to search, but what happened early on in the Brazil/Uruguay match? for 15-minutes the teams were just standing around! I wasn't watching at the start and just happened to flip it on during that moment. Nobody was moving. I don't understand enough Spanish to get what people were saying, but it just seemed crazy.

Just saw Argentina's goal against Mexico off a set piece ... my gawd Argentina is brilliant at set pieces.

BTW, anyone watching the US/Uruguay U-20 game? I've got it on matchtracker, and it looks like we've had possession but little else in our favor.

It's always good to see Mexico getting rolled.

I think I get telefutura but I can't find it on my cable guide, how much time is left in the US/Uruguay game?

The US game just ended. Wow was that crazy.

One thing sums up the game that I just watched: Uruguay is the dirtiest fucking team I have every seen.

Whether it was stomping on Altidore's foot intentionally during a set piece, or sliding into the back of Altidore's legs. Well, let's just say that Altidore took enough abuse and was subbed out.

Altidore's replacement, Akpen, was about as big a waste of space as there was on the pitch. The guy couldn't move, couldn't score, couldn't get good positioning. It was brutal to watch him out there.

I'll have more tomorrow, but I'm off to bed.
