    Understatement of the year.

We'll see how decent Alumnia is when he plays the rest of the game in a shooting gallery, although his fingertip save on Eto'o was brilliant.

This pisses me off on several fronts. First, I play a ton of attention to keepers, since my son -- one of the main reasons I pay attention to soccer -- iis a budding keeper. Second, I'm a huge Jens fan. Third, I'm rooting for Arsenal.

If Anthony Lapaglia ever tires of acting, he's got a future as a soccer commentator.

I mean, he did fine, but where the hell did that come from?

  5. Barca got the royal shaft in that first half. But they were down 1-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in qualifying and pulled out the tie, so I've got confidence they'll find the equalizer.

Henry on set pieces = most dangerous man on the planet.

Can someone actually say what happened with the red card? Just got back from district baseball.

  8. Samuel Eto'o was brought down by Jens Lehman just outside the penalty box and was assessed a red card. The play should have gone through because of the advantage...

That is, LEHMANN was given the red card, not Eto'o, just in case there was confusion. He had just gotten the ball past Jens, who missed on a dive to his left but his hand caught Eto'o's foot, tripping him. Iffy call at best, especially with the advantage. Course, now we're even, thanks to that brilliant shot by Sammy.

  10. That's what I meant. I'm about a six of Newcastle into the match ;D

    And as I'm typing...Barca takes a 2-1 lead!!!!!!

Not for nothin', but I think Jens saves that one. I don't know who was more surprised, Almunia or Belletti.

LaPaglia is from Australia and is a huge soccer fan. He's been on Fox Soccer Channel before (MLS Wrap) and interviewed in Sporting News. He also owns a chunk of Sydney FC.
