Oh, so that's why Ronaldinho didn't play well in the WC. He was having sex every night and playing marathon PS2 sessions after coitus...

(NSFW: Due to wet tee shirt photo of Ronaldinho's girlfriend-model.)

Verdicts from the appeals to the Italian match-fixing scandal:

Lazio and Fiorentina are back in Serie A, albeit with 11- and 19-point deductions to start the season. Juventus stays in Serie B, but with -17 points instead of -30.

Milan had their penalty reduced from 15 points to eight. They'll go into the Champions League third qualifying round, along with Chievo, while Palermo gets bumped down to the UEFA Cup.

Wish I could say I'm surprised, but I'm not. ::)

I feel like there's a few bad "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!" jokes to make here, but I just have the stomach for them today.

That sucks. Like baseball, if you make noise after getting your just punishment, you find the courts in your favor.

Golden rule, m'man. Those who have the gold make the rules.

Just like Spain had a chance to make a definitive statement against racism, Italy had a chance to make a statement against corruption. Both went with the status quo.

    TV update:

If you want to catch a glimpse of Tim Howard -- or even if you've just forgetten what he looks like while actually on the field -- the Columbus-Everton friendly will be on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT) tomorrow.

I'm just happy for the chance to see my boys play live.

Should someone (I can do it) start a thread on the EPL, which starts next month?

Do you think we need a different thread?

I thought that if this one got too big, someone could just close it and start the All-Singing, All-Dancing Soccer Thread 2.0.

That's true. Well, with the seasons kicking off next month, it might be time to start a new one. I'll leave it to Pastor Crass, though.

  10. we should keep this one. If you start another thread, Im starting the Mexican primera divison, all goals, no defense, playing with loads of confetti on the field thread

It's a simple matter of convenience. The baseball thread resets after 40 or so pages, so soccer could probably use a new thread as well.

    That's all I'm saying.

I've tried getting into leagues for the rest of Europe, but none of them match the EPL, IMHO. Maybe it's just me.

And, just for the hell of it -- Go Reds!
