Love and peace among soccer fans?

I'd sooner put money on the MetroBulls winning something of importance. :p

Crass: Saw the mockup of the new RedBulls stadium. Question -- where the heck is Bridgeview, NJ?

Bridgeview, Ill.,  the home of the not-quite-Chicago Fire's new stadium.

Looks like Real Salt Lake broke ground in Sandy, Utah last week as well.  Yet another reason to call 'em Fake Salt Lake.  ;D  I saw the steel skeleton of the Toronto FC stadium during the outing, though the guard at the parking lot full of raw materials couldn't tell me where the construction site was.

I refuse to believe the groundbreaking will happen until I see that shovel hit dirt.  There's still a long way from that shovel in the (possibly still contaminated) ground to an actual stadium rising up.

Red Bulls' stadium will be in Harrison, NJ. It is right off a PATH stop.

PaperDoll, I'm with you. I'm not buying until the shovels hit the dirt. The land is definitely still contaminated. They have done almost nothing there to clean it up. This stadium is moving about as fast as possible in the world of NJ politics.

Because I don't find the play on the pitch entertaining.

    It's Harrison, NJ, Twoby.

The design looks nice, but I wonder how on earth it'll come in at or under $100 million when its capacity is 25% bigger than Bridgeview, it has a larger roof and it's being built somewhere where real estate is anything but affordable.

C'mon, PD -- don't you know Sandy is "the other downtown?" :D

Here is a link to brand new townhomes built in the area. These townhomes are pretty much walking distance to the new stadium. They are NOT part of the stadium project, which includes condos, apartments, commercial rentals and a hotel.

Here is a link to the development project involved with the stadium:

I especially hate when the players on the sides dirty their kits on the muddy pitch. They show such poor form and pace as well.

This Aston Villa takeover by Randy Lerner is interesting, but is it good for the game? The Prem is starting to define itself as a playground for the world's elite. Lerner's arrival, I think, will result in more international (and probably more American) financial interest in the league.

Anyway...here's hilarious takes on American football by UK writers.

    Charlie Frye star player? Bwhahahaha

    Bump-ippity-up for the Premiership start.

    WARNING: Results to follow.

Game of the day is easily Reading-Middlesboro. New guys go down 2-0 within a half-hour, but come back to win 3-2. Convey had bits of brilliance here and there (mostly solid outing). Hahnemann gave up a rebound that let to the second goal, but redeemed himself with a couple 1v1 saves.

Spector (West Ham) DNP in a 3-1 win over Charlton. Jay DeMerit came off the bench in Watford's 2-1 loss at Everton. Eddie Lewis started and got subbed out as Leeds lost 1-0 to their bugaboo team, Cardiff. Brad Friedel had a day to forget in Blackburn's 3-0 loss to Portsmouth. Frankie Simek (former Arsenal prospect) went the distance in Sheffield Wednesday's 2-1 win at Plymouth Argyle. Zak Whitbread (ex-Liverpudlian) went the full 90 in a 1-0 win for Millwall.

Non-YA result of the day has to be Aston Villa getting a 1-1 draw at Arsenal after leading most of the match. Excellent start for Martin O'Neill.
