The U.S. doesn't want to waste its time or money on Eriksson. They'd be better off giving Ericksson money to either Klinsmann or Pekerman, the ex-Argentinian coach.

I can't believe they wouldn't take a major run at Jurgen.

  2. I disagree. Riquelme never runs anyway, so him captaining the Albiceleste at 32 would not have regressed his skills. He's content to meander around the central midfield and knock through balls to Tevez, Messi and Crespo. Plus, he's brilliant at free kicks. For as much as he gets criticized by the Portenos in Buenos Aires, I consider him to be a top talent in the world.

La Marca (the Madrid Daily) had this on Wednesday

Excellent piece on why Eriksson would be terrible for the U.S. National Team

Sums up perfectly why Eriksson would be no good for the US players, whom I think have a similar mentality to England's players, hence the success they find in the Premier League

Groundbreaking on Red Bull Park today -- http://www.northjersey.com/page.php?qstr=eXJpcnk3ZjczN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXkxMzgmZmdiZWw3Zjd2cWVlRUV5eTY5OTQ0NTgmeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2

Eriksson was a shit manager for England and he would be an even shittier manager for the US.

Additionally, I don't think he's really a candidate for the job. They merely interviewed with him. There is no reason not to interview the guy. But, I don't think they would ever make an offer.

Kilnsmann is the guy they want. He's already said that he's not doing anything until the New Year, thus, the USSF is merely biding its time until Klinsy is willing to say what he will do.

Webster, I considered going to the groundbreaking, but I am stuck in the office. Damn shame.

Some of my fellow Idiots will be there today (now), but I can't make it.

I'd rather have a coach from the US, but I think that Klinsmann will be the choice. Bradley probably had the edge on the job, before he agreed to go to the black hole that is The Swamp.

I think Bradley's edge went away when Bruce faltered. I would also rather have an American coach, but I don't see one that is available now.

While everyone wants a coach from their own country,I don't think there's an American coach out there who will allow the team to move forward.

I honestly think Pekerman would be a good hire if he can be got. I'm not sure he'd want to come to the U.S. unless it was for a large sum of money though.

Nice knowing you Sam Allardyce, maybe you too Harry Rednapp, hope you enjoyed Pompey's week of joy at the top of the table ...

Yeah, there's something fishy here. Maybe it's a good thing Allardyce got passed over for England, or maybe they knew about this beforehand.

Still, careful to pull the trigger too fast on this. Justices have a funny was of making sure everyone gets slapped on the wrists without taking a major fall. George Graham is still the only manager to get banned for taking a bung.

Innocent or not, Sam Allardyce just strikes me as a guy who would take a bung (basically a kind of bribe or kickback for those who don't know).

And I like his Bolton teams.

(Waiting for the unintiated to start making bung references in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...)
