As a member of the Tartan Army, I'm very sad Smith is leaving Scotland's MNT. As an SPL fanboy, I'm glad he'll be in the league and in the Auld Firm. So, obviously, I'm conflicted about this.

And today, Sky News is reporting Becks is out at Real...

Link to a Yanks Abroad story about Dempsey, with mention of Gooch's status.

It's the usual bait and switch that major European clubs make all the time, especially if the media is from a different nation. I'm not sure Beckham stays with Real, because he won't get regular first team action. I could see him going back to the Premier League. Can you name a team that wouldn't shell out some cash to bring him back on a free transfer?

Is it too early to think L.A. Galaxy?

I don't think it's too early to think Galaxy, but.....I would say Beckham still has playing aspirations for the English National Team, which would neccesitate a move the the Premier League. There's no way McLaren reselects him if he's playing in MLS.

Becks is done for England -- barring injury, that is Lennon's spot for the next 6 years.

Sure, but it doesn't mean he's not going to keep trying for at least a couple of years.

By the way, anyone catch the highlights of Arsenal-Liverpool last night. The Gooners win 3-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday, then 6-3 in the Carling Cup. Baptista scored four last night, including a sweet free kick.

I'm with you Inky. It is a rather conflicting predicament. I have read that McLeish is being looked at as Smith's replacement. So, that is something that would be interesting to see. I don't think McLeish is a bad coach, I just think he stayed on beyond his expiration date.

I was stuck in meetings all day, but I was very happy, as a blue nose, to see Smith back in the fold. Looks like a real management team has been setup.

  12. so you're saying if Becks moves to MLS, that McLaren isn't going to take time to watch the epic Galaxy-Colorado Rapids 0-0 draw
