National Speed Sport News ran a, well, interesting recap of Sunday's IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio. The winner finally got quoted close to the end and the runner-up, who is now the runaway points leader, didn't get quoted at all. Before the winner was quoted, we have four grafs of quotes from Graham Rahal (with no mention how much this race meant to him with the family history at the track close to his home), we learn Danica Patrick hugs teenage boys and a somewhat obscure reference is made to a former NBA star.

It's a second-day angle, which for what's left of NSSN, is probably the way to go. It wouldn't have been my second-day angle, but that's just me.

I looked at the byline and didn't need to look at anything else.

Is that the dude with the soul patch I see on local TV when I go home for the 500?

Most likely, yes. When at the 500 he wears either a 500 t-shirt or polo. He also does this head-bobbing/acting thing when listening to drivers talk, especially if the driver is Danica.

I'm looking forward to this coming out on DVD. I'll buy it as soon as it's available. There is ZERO chance it comes to the theaters within 500 miles of here, so I'll have to wait. Amazon has it already for Region 2 DVD players, but that doesn't help.

Yes. I've seen him fist-bump drivers and a million lesser acts of ass-kissing. Just obnoxious. Yet in an era of shrinking media corps in racing, he has stayed very busy. Mystifies many of his peers.

Your first two sentences likely explain your third, and no doubt they explain your fourth.

At one point, I remember him getting into some hot water while driving an IMS-issued pace car during May.

But, if not for him, who is going to ask all of the questions in the pressers?

The hot water involved smashing a pace car replica into a guard rail on 38th Street while under the influence a week or so before the 500, I believe. He says he hasn't had a drink since, which I hope is true.
And does he really ask questions or just toss out statements and ask for confirmation or denial?

FYI: Indianapolis 500 to remain on ABC, along with four other races per year, through 2018.

The Chevy SSR wasn't the best handling vehicle to begin with. I could only imagine how hard it would be to handle when you're plastered.
As far as the pressers, I'm sure other people would step up. I remember others asking questions when I was there.
