All-purpose open-wheel (F1, IRL) racing thread

    I ran up on this and thought I'd share. They drive each other's machines, then take a couple of laps together. I'm somewhat amazed that their respective teams and contracts allowed this, even though they were not pushing it hard.

    You absolutely could. His winning percentage was amazing.

    One other factor that makes it tricky to compare eras: Fangio was a five-time world champion... but only competed in 52 races. For comparison, Lance Stroll has raced in 68 and he's still just 21 years old.

    Back then there were like 8-9 races a year. None in Eastern Europe, Asia, Australia, etc. Western Europe and the US only. That means winning percentage is a useful means of comparison between eras, or at least it does to me. Clark was the first great driver I followed. Fangio before my time.
