This race is going to start at 10pm in Vegas.

    That is unimaginably stupid.

1 a.m. on the East Coast. Just like Melbourne. Makes sense.

Makes sense in Vegas. Not anywhere else, though.

Exactly. This is the ultimate spectacle race in the U.S. and their best chance to grab casual viewers here with a visually stunning race.

They've decided to run it when nobody but die-hards in the U.S. will watch. 1am on the east coast?

Early morning Sunday there is probably the best they can hope for. They're not going to start it at 3 a.m. London time.

I'd watch a Drive to Survive episode solely on the logistics of this, from traffic rerouting to lighting to crowd control.

I read somewhere it takes three weeks to set up Monaco and a week to tear it down, I'd have to imagine this setup would be far more challenging.

That sounds about what the Long Beach Grand Prix takes; I was down there in 2019 about a month before the race and the k-rails and some fencing were already in place.

Monaco is able to open the streets to traffic each night during the race weekend. I'm curious to see if Vegas tries to copy that.

Watching the last episode of Drive to Survive only serves to underline my opinion that the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was an absolute fucking travesty.

Max Verstappen is a very good driver but also if his car blows up every week then it doesn't really matter.

If you told me 15 years ago that I would now be happy to see the plucky underdog Ferrari building a lead in the title fight I would have thought you were high.
