I feel like the only time Ferrari wasn’t an underdog in my life was when Schumacher was there, maybe for a few years afterward. There are Montreal Canadiens vibes there.

That's a good point. In my life they've had two really dominant eras -- briefly in the mid 70s when I first started following F1 (the first race I attended as a kid was a Ferrari 1-2 and third place was nearly a minute back) and then again in the Schumacher era.

I think Ferrari and their fans tend to view the team as world-beaters who occasionally have periods when they don't live up to their standard of dominance. In reality, they are more often underachieving screwups who manage to get their act together for a few seasons at a time.

I happened to finally watch that episode today and absolutely agree. The reaction of the drivers in real time tells you all you need to know about it. What a joke.

The Australian Grand Prix was a bit dull at the top as Leclerc ran away with it once Max bowed out, but that midfield scrap was pretty good. The track changes worked out pretty well, I thought.

Kinda crazy that, for as bad as Mercedes have looked, they’re leading Red Bull in the constructors and Russell is running second overall. Reliability > porpoising

We started watching F1 maybe 4-5 years ago and I enjoyed it. Got into it, kind of kept up with the teams and all. I even considered going to Texas for the race despite the crazy costs. My wife and our son also got into it.

We quit watching after Abu Dhabi. That was completely wrong, and F1 knew it and didn't care. Fuck 'em.

Since when did ANYONE in motorsports give two festering turds about the environment?

Goodness how many expired tires, thousands of gallons of fuel - be it gas or methanol - the garbage produced by thousands of fans and hundreds of people in the pits/paddock ... but let's draw the line at a few hundred balloons. SMH.

Ha, indeed. One of IMS' annual local media hits is the Monday after the 500, when community groups pick up allll the trash in the place to raise funds. But a better story would be if race fans could somehow be trained to actually pick up after themselves. It's embarrassing.

As someone who regularly does beach pickups and has collected many stray balloons over the years, I applaud this.

    I was gonna say ...

    No balloons because .... environment.

Now let's rev up those engines and spew out emissions for 500 miles times up to 33 cars.
