At the very least, it's a more intriguing idea than another Fantastic Four reboot.
Frankly, a movie about Man-Thing going in for a colonoscopy is a more intriguing idea than another Fantastic Four reboot.

Fox should make a deal with Marvel similar to the one Sony did with Spider-Man. Otherwise, they need to leave the FF alone.

Both of the Gruffudd-Chiklis FF movies were okay ... if they hadn't fucked up Dr. Doom so bad.

Just like the DC Superman movies would be all right if they'd quit fucking up Lex Luthor.

I enjoyed that first FF movie, the second one, not so much.
However, in retrospect, I'm glad those movies weren't too successful -- Chris Evans is sooo much better as Captain America.

I didn't hate the first FF movie, either, but the disgraceful depiction of Dr. Doom was a serious problem. They took a character whose power is in his mind and made him primarily a physical threat. Doom is dangerous because he is ruthless, but also because he is brilliant and he has mastered science and sorcery. They took the magical part of the character away and much of the science. He was only really a threat in that first movie because of the physical power he was given by the cosmic rays. At least he used some science in the second one, figuring out how to take the Surfer's powers, but the rest of the script sucked.

Then there was Trank's tank in the reboot, which isn't even worth discussing.

In FF #1, mainly they made Dr. Doom, who basically is supposed to be a Baltic Darth Vader (Vader is in fact pretty much a straight Doom ripoff), into a whiny snotty frat boy having a piss because Reed Richards stole his girl.

Much as the DC movies all the way back to 1978 fucked up Luthor by making him a cheeseball real estate swindler. Luthor is not supposed to be fucking comic relief, he's supposed to be creepy and chilling.

And ditto for Dr. Doom. Doom is not supposed to be making snarky snotty jilted boyfriend wisecracks, he's supposed to be plotting your, yes, doom.

More fun from Comic Con in the form of a new Thor: Ragnarok trailer.

Getting pretty exited for Thor after these trailers . Finally saw Spidey last night and enjoyed the hell out of it. I haven't read anything new with Spidey since 700 or much of Ultimate Marvel (did read Ultimate Spidey before his death) so I might have been out of the loop on some of the changes.
Anyway, it was pretty damn good. Vulture was a great villain and just having Peter hanging around his neighborhood doing the small things I felt was a good start. Not a huge fan of Karen or what the suit could do, but it worked.

I think they did a great job with the Peter Parker part of the story, capturing the spirit of the character and the challenges of handling everyday teenage life while being a superhero.

There are definitely some changes in the character related to the suit, particularly the presence of Karen and the eye pieces. I read somewhere that both were done to help him function more like he does in the comics. Two things that were largely absent in the previous movie versions were the movement of the eye pieces and the constant chatter while he is in costume, even if there is nobody to talk to in the scene. The moving eye pieces allow him to be expressive even in costume, something that we have seen in the comics for decades. The loss of that may be one reason he ended up with his mask off so damn much in the previous versions, which was annoying and out of character. Karen gives him someone to talk to even when there are no human beings to interact with, again making the character in the movie more like what we've seen in the comics.

Does the suit make him a little too much like Iron Man, Jr.? Yes, it does, but I understand the reason for the changes and it still works because the personalities of the characters are so different. They are both funny and brilliant, but Peter Parker is far more relatable and far less egotistical.

The Inevitable AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Trailer Leak

Somebody managed to videotape the Avengers: Infinity War trailer at Comic Con and post it online. Not sure how long it will last.

The video quality is crap, but still manages to give you a good feel what is to come.

It looks awesome, but I've said that about pretty much all the DC movies. They make great trailers, for sure.

I assume it's Superman to whom Alfred says, "He said you'd come, I hope it's not too late." Villain is Darkseid, correct? I don't know him at all, I probably stopped reading the books by the time he was introduced.

I'm probably looking forward most to Jason Momoa as Aquaman. I'm not a huge fan of the character, but I really like Momoa and I'd like to see him carry a franchise. Plus, from the trailer, he looks to be the middle ground between a super serious Wonder Woman and a goofy Flash.
