Tim Tebow Bolsters ‘60 Minutes’ to No. 1 For Week
    December, 19 2011 7:07 PM
The most-watched program last week didn’t start in prime time, so it doesn’t sit atop the weekly rankings. Viewers wanted to see Tim Tebow lead the Denver Broncos against the New England Patriots. .

The Broncos-Patriots game was the most-watched NFL game so far this season.

Tebow did do marvelous things for “60 Minutes,” which followed the Broncos-Patriots game. The CBS newsmagazine included an interview with actress Meryl Streep, who talked about her new movie, “The Iron Lady,” and her commitment to women’s history. With Streep, “60 Minutes” was No. 1 for the week. Not bad for a program that debuted in 1968.

The rest of the Top 10 for the week:

    2. “NCIS,” CBS

    3. “NCIS: Los Angeles,” CBS

    4. ”Sunday Night Football,” NBC
    5. “CSI,” CBS

    6. “Person of Interest,” CBS

    7. “Two and a Half Men,” CBS

    8. “Criminal Minds,” CBS

    9. “The Mentalist,” CBS

    10. “The X Factor” Thursday, Fox

The top show in cable was ESPN’s “Monday Night Football,” which placed at No. 14. The Republican presidential debate on Fox News Channel was No. 16.

Public Policy Polling is rolling out a poll done about the NFL on Wednesday. But today, they've been tweeting some of the highlights. Like ...

@ppppolls 26% of conservatives but only 5% of liberals say Tebow is their favorite NFL QB

@ppppolls Tebow's favorability with Republicans nationally is 68/8...none of the POTUS candidates are even in the ballpark of that

Tebow is improving every week. Anyone who doesn't think so should have watched the game against the Patirots and how CBS did a side by side view of his throwing motion compared to Brady. Give Tebow a few years and he will be just as good if not better than Brady albeit with a different style. The NFL qb position is going to be transformed by guys like Tebow and Cam Newton.

Quite possibly the stupidest post in this boards history.

And Michael Vick. And Vince Young. And Steve Young. And Randall Cunningham. And Donovan McNabb. And Doug Flutie. And Jim Zorn. And Bobby Douglas. And Roger Staubach. And Fran Tarkenton.

No, it won't. As the polling indicates, he is currently the frontrunner for the GOP's nomination this year. He'll be in the White House in January 2013, not the Super Bowl.

Biggest difference between Tebow and Newton compared to those other guys is Tebow and Cam are much bigger and will be able to take the pounding the others couldn't or wouldn't. Also they will be running to run not running because they ran out of options in the passing game.

What's particularly absurd is the context of a season where Brees, Rodgers, Brady and even Eli Manning have set the bar so high for the passing game. Particularly with the first three, they have offenses that, when they are on, are virtually unstoppable.

Now, if a runner can pass like that, would that change things? Well, Steve Young was at one time a runner. Staubach was "Roger the Dodger" and Warren Moon was a runner. Mobile QBs becoming noted passers is nothing new either. I'm skeptical of Tebow ever becoming a "noted passer" but crazier things have happened. Newton is much more likely to get there.

Big backs tend to have shorter careers BECAUSE they can take a pounding. They get hit more, which takes a toll. This is especially problematic for a QB, which can't just trot to the sidelines to take a break while some other back in the "stable" gets a snap. They have to get up, get the play, get everybody lined up, read what the defense is doing, etc., etc.

You will always want to minimize the contact for that guy.
