All-purpose, running Tim Tebow sucks/is a deity thread!

When Abdur-Rahim was at Cal there was tons of news coverage about an afternoon game he played during Ramadan and how he couldn't eat for hours before, during or after it. Wasn't controversial at all.

You've said you don't like him because of his religiosity.

How is that any different than disliking someone for speaking out about race, or sexual preference?

And, the Abdul-Rauf hypothetical was stupid. It deserved mockery. It was not comparable to anything Tebow has done.

I should not have waded into this again. I will now take my leave to use the DMV database to track down Dick Whitman.

    Praise Tebow!

Exactly. And the kids in Dearborn, MI get lots of favorable press for their night time football practices during Ramadan.

Tebow is religious, and he's forthright about it. So what?

Can you imagine what Fernandomania, Nomomania, or Mark Fidrych would have been like in an era of ESPN, 24-hour news channels/cycle, twitter, etc.?

This isn't that new. There are just a lot more megaphones now.

I'd like to see someone get up there and praise Allah so we could see what a shoulder shrug that would bring (Fox News and Limbaugh excepted).

It was anything but stupid, as evidenced by your dodging of the issue. What did you think of his National Anthem protest, YankeeFan?

The controversy of the anthem protest was not about being Muslim. It was about his actions toward the American flag. That does kind of get people riled up. I can live with it myself, but that's a pretty non-religious hot button. Carlos Delgado got in hot water for it too and it didn't have a thing to do with religion, in fact he's probably Catholic.

That's a ridiculous comparison to Tebow praising God.

Starman wouldn't know what to do with himself at that point. On the one hand, he could use it to lash out at those who are scared of the Moo-slems. On the other hand, the only way the team could accommodate him would be to play a four corners offense and a slow-down zone, thus Playing the Right Way and pissing him off to no end.
